We have an important announcement today!
After much consideration, we have decided it best to remove the training requirement for playing online. The training was originally implemented to retain the authentic gameplay and as a deterrent for banned users creating a second account before we had manual account activation.
Taking a look at the information we have as far as player statistics, it was shocking to see how many new accounts never completed basic training in order to play online. By removing the training requirement, we are hoping to boost the number of in-game players substantially. If you know anyone that has uninstalled or given up before finishing training, please encourage them to come back and enjoy the game.
A mass email will be sent out shortly to announce this major update.

ELiZ!
The problem is, newer accounts can't play.
It looks as if they're not activated.
-
Great choice
-
My account is locked and I cannot play and it's my birthday and i'm sad :'(

Give me an id
I already tried adding the accounts to the activated list manually, but it doesn't work. Teddy tried another one of his accounts and the same thing happened. BTID was 843335
It seems like all accounts made after activation was required are not being allowed to play. In other words, all the accounts that were manually activated can't play.
zork's BTID is : 840410

My account's not new though. I don't know. But this is my I.D. # 840410

Try now.

Try now.
Auth seems to be down now. Keeps timing out.
-
Auth up again.
Zork, can you try again
-
I'm on thnx <3
-
I can log in with 843335 now, so all is well.
-
Everything seems to be working. Good job.
-
Sorry about that.
When I said that training requirement is disabled, there were also a rather radical change on the backend of the Auth server and how it handles accounts, that was causing the problems. I could not test the new component before we went live.

It's totally OK. It all works now so it's all good! :)

Looks great. Step 1 of gaining users back is complete.

I get another report of this from http://battletracker.com/playerstats/aao/843944/ (http://battletracker.com/playerstats/aao/843944/) not being able to log in at this moment. I fixed it manually at this point. Please tell me if you got any issues

If training is optional, does that mean that a non trained account can now join a
special map, like sf or mAAp ?

Sure, that's the idea.

thx again

   :D :D :style: :style: :style:
This is perfect.
And now, on top of all the other pluses that come along with this, when admins forceclass snipers, we won't get shot by an automatic weapon! Awe-fucking-some!
-
thx again
Since all clients also thinks they are fully trained, you can also try the SF or Sniper training if you want too without being forced to do the lower levels first.
-
great job as always ELiZ !!!!

Congrats to the RM members, assist admins and Eliz for making this happen.

No. Everyone will now be able to play SF maps without doing the training.

sorry but that's stupid if u want a sf should have to work for it like we all had to

We made a decision based on what is best for the game.
Seeing as the NA community seems to just love Pipe SF and that's typically the only server up, it was impossible for new NA players to rank up because the only map being played, they couldn't play. This is one of many reasons for disabling the training requirement.

Its not.
It took weeks to vote on this, and the data we have on player accounts, player accounts completing training, and player account playing with only completing basic training is uncompromising. This is a move to help this game grow, and stay active.

At least half the people who have their SF training complete (way before Assist) didn't even complete the SF training, bro. And they do still have to 'work' to get the SF weapon. Don't forget how AA2 works. If you have 0 Points, and 10-20 honor, the person who is of higher honor and more points from the previous set will have weapon-choice priority. And you never really "worked" for it anyway. You endured 'training' that was mostly propaganda for the purpose of shaping attitudes about our American military and getting people to join the US Army. Is it going to make them better than you when they have an SF weapon? No. If the issue is really from such a vantage point, consider the fact that we don't really know if you or anyone completed that training anyway, especially if you made your account pre-Assist.

Yes, indeed. HOOAH!!!

thats the goal of this decision. Getting more people play this game. We are keeping track of the statistics, while we add some extra advertisements, trying to contact other parties etc, disabling training, adding videos on YouTube, I will try to stream more often. We will see whether this will make a difference

Happy to hear a good decision.

now we just need to remove the half points for forceclass servers

Take the last breath of fun from this game.

I should remind you that the goal of Assist isn't to allow users to rack up a larger number on a 3rd party website. The goal is to keep America's Army 2 alive. The fact that forceclassing is allowed at all is something you should be thankful for (if you enjoy that kind of thing). It was never officially allowed.
-
i do really think it is good like it is now. just play and have fun :)
and do welcome the new players with fairness and respect, then this game will grow again.
thank you!
-
I have fixed both the Getting Started page and the YouTube video by adding an annotation.
-
well done on finally putting it to rest . although i wonder now if it means people will fill the shout box with help requests because they didnt do the training , hahaha, lol joking ,again ,another good job by the dev team hooah!

Well done :style:
