Title: SAI is released!

The new update from Assist today introduces the 2.8-style SAI into America's Army 2.5. The SAI has most of the features that were available in 2.8 plus a few that didn't exist such as scaling, transparency and locations. Try it out and let us know if you run into any problems by posting in this thread:

Woohoo! This is a feature I loved in 2.8.X . Hopefully I get the chance to try this out!

Could we PLEASE get the setting when SAI is Disabled the Compass is ON ? I guess I am the only one playing without the SAI anyway. And no I really dont need compass for spams on bridge since I dont play bridge.

If you want the compass back you have to play on servers that have SAI disabled. You having compass instead of SAI is upto the server admin.

So that everyone in the server is playing by the same rules. If you want to disadvantage yourself by turning off the sai that's fine.

Yes, I dont care about disadvantage. But at the same time I would like to see where a briefcase is for example. In that way I am forced to use SAI when the compass is off. If it was the other way around I would understand it. But as you say I am voluntarily disadvantaging myself so at least I should be able to use compass.

Me too i want it like before just the nice and bugfree Compass, if i disable the New SAI. Please i want choose it clientside Not serverside! If i Need SAI i went to battlefield game.

JUST CLIENTSIDE COMPASS LIKE BEFORE!!

What is the reasoning behind turning the SAI off?
Is it too big?
To many moving visual items moving around?

We god old Player don't need any kind visuals more like in bf its just a copy/past of Others concepts.
AAO should stay  unique Jonnym ! Better fix all the existing Bugs to make ist playable and to Keep players from quitting the Game.
Only for newplayers maybe ist be attraktiv the New (copy/past- style) but with New Bugs Not for long.

Yes of course you are right, i know this but the Old dev's have c/p the concept of the SAI back then from bf already.
Now we follow The Same wrong Way like back then you know what i Mean now.

I use the SAI , its default size is definitely too big but other than that you did a great job and it reminds me of the one from 2.8.

So i dig it & will be using it. :style:

As a server admin, you can disable radar on server. Every player will then be able to have compass

I tried it out today, its actually pretty good, and not too big for me, but maybe that is because of my 23" screen.

It might be a solution to make the icons for your gun and grenade count etc smaller, so the SAI can be more in the left lower corner. Just an idea I stole from 285.

The competitions will be using the SAI anyway so I am forced to get used to it anyway. Therefore i give up. I have it now in the size of 3/4 of the weapon in lower left corner. OBJs are pretty small but readable.

didn't find back the treat about CE due to radar. But few minutes ago, entire opposite team had CE at same moment, and nearly nobody of our team had it .. pretty strange.

A good reason why compass is disabled when SAI is enabled is to get rid of dropshots. Harder to dropshot with the SAI. No soldiers use a compass to aim their 203's.

I think he is using Z to move, but Z is enemyspotted is his ini, so he needs to change it everytime he's logging in ..

You must bind enemyspotted somewhere! If you bind it to another key it with will stop adding it at Z.

Go to settings on assist, click on edit user.ini
Remove EnemySpotted from

Then type this

Not sure if it's been reported yet, dont have the time to read back but I've encountered a bug every now and again where the SAI says the place is facing the opposite to the direction he is actually facing. I tried to take a screenshot of it ingame using the 'shot' in console but doesn't seem to have saved, not sure if that was a feature in 2.8.5 that's gone now or not.

If you are doing training the SAI is ot used(Server based), and at the moment there is a "bug" that turns of compass and Objectives, you can correct this by editing your User.ini and set this value to False
