Help needed!!!

As some of you don't know Pit-23 left after some people pressing him without even giving any credit for what he done... We had some issues but we still want to keep this up and update it as each player that plays this game deserves it from us. We have some updated cvars and some maps ready to release, hope to see they out in the next few day but in the meanwhile...

So we are looking for extreme dedicated people that would like to take our project further... If you think you have what we are looking for, if you have the urge inside you to make this grow or even if you don't have the time to help but have some really nice ideas then, please PM me or email me at [email protected] saying why you, why should be you helping us. We will look for 3 new persons willing to help us, it all depends on their abilities...

I'm also looking for someone with Real Basic programming knowledge and this is very important as i need someone i can trust to join our project at https://sourceforge.net/projects/aa25assist/ and keep everything updated as intended...

The community will help to take the project further, like it did until now.

All I can offer is free time. I'm not an informatical genius but I got plenty of time and I am (too much) dedicated to this game.

So I am not willing to be in the 3 persons you pick but I can always offer my help !

Like I've said, I'll do whatever I can to ensure the mAAps get updated. Beyond that, if people want to see more map work done, I will continue.

I'll continue to work on maps as well. I'll learn as much as I can.

I'm here.

I've been coding in basic since the late 80's..... crap I'm old.
I've looked though some of the Assist Code, and it's seems straightforward.

Ant further development by me would exclude MAC and Linux Clients.

Which would mean that we could include physics on every mAAp map then :D Mac clients aren't really used anymore (who has a PowerPC these days...) Linux is good but I think it has the worst port. Fact is, the game runs best on Windows.

Nothing against Mac but we should keep support for at least Linux, as everyone says it will be the future of gaming, unless you move forward to 2.8.5 and then we can only support Windows ;)

Linux might be the future of gaming (distant future at best), it has no future with AA2. Nobody is going to build a better port or improve performance for AA2. I think it's a topic that should be discussed and voted on. Physics in mAAp maps (among other things like DirectX hacks for bloom and more) would be pretty cool.

Apart from lacking physics support the linux client is very good, you could not make a better port. The assist client on linux is not great.
This game has no future on windows, it wont work on win8.

if i could, i would help you for sure. i am an IT Expert, but not a programmer. but if you need - like Ganja said - some time to help for someting, i am here.

and in the short future, i will put a guide into the forum "how to make a dual boot system". then windows8, like i already did, can be installed - and aa2 can be still played :D

good luck and thank you all!

Aren't there rendering issues with shadows as well? I always thought the port was rushed after seeing the bug tracker from the guy that made it. Which was one of the reasons why it wasn't continued for later versions.

I wouldn't be worried about Windows 8. The adoption rates aren't going to be very high, people are still sticking to 7 for gaming needs. I work on computers all the time that are running Vista still, with an occasional XP mixed in. We're hardly at the point of saying "you'll have to downgrade to 7 in order to play AA" to everyone. Plus, it wouldn't be so outlandish to get rid of PunkBuster anyway and code CVARS into mods. PB is pretty useless and easily bypassed by hackers.

Someone whack me upside the head, I'm dreaming about AA's future again.
