Title: Authentication issues
Post by: BiG_SerGiO on Saturday, January 26, 2013, 03:51:39 AM
Good morning AA players. I feel like i owe you guys an explanation so here it goes.

Our Authentication hosting has been under heavy ddos attacks on their machines, it started one month ago maybe and again this week. Yes, it's a pity but, remember that we are hosted there since March without any other situations so at the end i still keep my trust on them. yes there have been some issues but they have solved always on time, the main problem was that they had to protect their system with another firewall that was blocking our Auth ports and so we couldn't connect with Assist.
So now they are more secure, we are more secure and we are always trying to improve our system. Even with all this flaws we have other big things, don't forget our latest releases, new maps, flash time reduced, bugs fixed, etc etc...

We aren't payed and even with all the criticism we keep working, that's all because we LOVE this game. Let's hope it keeps growing.

Also, we always like to read your ideas, improvements, bug reports, etc... Feel free to post on Forums, PM me for background checks, we will give each one of you an answer when we can.

But... yes there is a but ;), i also wanna ask for something to all of you. Let's grow up. This is a game, a community, don't spend your time offending others, just try to have fun.

Good post BiG_SerGiO. Information always calms down people - at least a bit. Yesterday's whining and bitching got really into epic measures, which was annoying and yet so entertaining to read.

You should come up with a mirror servers scheme, round robin dns whatever, and have people donate server space.  I for one, would be glad to contribute a dedicated linux rack server.

One of the reasons why yesterday had so few players was because of the Auth issues and perhaps due to the fact that it was Australia Day. In Australia (obviously) and everyone knows that Australians own this game. What's that you say, "Prove it" you say, well come to FDG server FRIDAY FIGHT NIGHT and show us your leet skillz!!!

Not sure why I've been having issue for the past couple weeks now. wWth everything fixed It still takes a good minute or so for the authorization server to verify and when it does the ping if out for this world, anywhere between 500ms to over a second every time now. This was never like this just 2 months ago always had less then 100ms Anyone have this high latency issues.?

The latency for Assist client doesn't really matter much imho. Although it is usually high for me too.

As for waiting for the authorization, when you open Assist, on the bottom you can see a red dot and "Checking AA". Assist checks that your whole AA is up to date (including maps) and it just takes some time. I'm guessing that's the waiting you're talking about.
