Title: A seven day experiment.
Post by: ELiZ on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, 10:37:25 AM
Hi

We have activated a tracker mod that is active on all server.
Reason for this is that we want to ensure that we are not vulnerable to a shutdown of Battletracker.
A small side effect of this is that we can start showing stats.

This thread is about an experiment that will run for 7 days. After that it will be removed for evaluation and voted on by you.

Screens will show toplist for Points, Kills and Deaths. Content is random and you will not see the same content as your other team members.

Bridge Crossing will be the only map affected at this time, but if the community likes this more maps will get the same toplist.

Here is a video:
25Assist Top Lists (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylEqHrxl80k#ws)

We will update Bridge.aao in the next low in playercount, most likely 4 or 5 AM(GMT).

Where would you find that in future ?

Can't access video btw - some error message occurs
Otherwise great idea - I am a stat freak

In Bridge Crossing it's in the tower, bottom side (like in the video, which you couldn't see I guess), I don't know whether it's in both towers or not.

It will be in both towers, so each side.

For some of you it will be a disappointment..
This new stat tracker will also record deaths, even if you reconnect....

Stats shown will either be:

Last 30 Days
Last 7 Days
Last 24 Hours

30 days and 7 days has been identical until today, since stat collecting did start 2014-03-06

Displays are loaded only once, at map loading.
So to see an updated view, you'll have to reconnect.

A final product could have a timer updating the content.
We could perhaps even show sponsored content.

Bypass it by reconnecting immediately when you are switched to assault or when you are the last guy remaining :P .... wait he already figured that out!

Looks nice Eliz!

I think it would give you more satisfaction when only the top 5 players are included. Besides, how many players are really active these days? Considered that amount a top 10 or 25 is kinda broad

It's not something that is really needed, but it's a cool feature. It doesn't take anything away from the game, but I don't really care if it gets implemented or not.

The current build I'm working on has a couple of new features.

Stats loading is done by the server and replicated to the clients, so now all client see the same screen.
Stats will now update after 5 10 minutes.

This is the current build...
I've added a bg(The same that are used in Assist Loading screen)

I plan to deploy it in a few hours to Bridge Crossing.

I think the first thing we could do is add it to maps like Yeti's lair and the UT map, which are otherwise not tracked.
For example on Yeti's lair it could be a huge screen on the ceiling :)

Other than that, it looks like it would fit some maps (like SF Extraction, SF Hospital, SF Blizzard, Pipeline (SF) ...) while it may look a out of place on others (like Urban Assault, SF Sandstorm, HQ Raid, Farm Raid, SF Arctic, SF Taiga, SF Recon...).

Just my thoughts.

It encourages people playing for their stats, which is kinda of sad. But still it's a nice feature, so I voted 'I don't really care'

Well not really stats, because fragrate is not shown. As it only displays kills, deaths, rounds played en score points, it encourages people to play more which is good for the game

Looking at the voting so far, It looks like we got an approval to continue, at least so far that I can continue working on it.

I've started adding the Toplist monitors to some of the other maps.

So far I've added them to these maps:

Pool Day.
I've also cut the points in half, due to the map design.

AA3 Impact.
I've also changed the Mission Type from VIP to Take and Hold.

UT04.

I'll release a update when I've gotten 5 maps updated.

Suggestions on where to put them next?
On a map like Urban Assault it's hard to find suitable spots to place a modern LCD screen, I can change the mesh to anything else I like.

SF Hospital has been added as well to the list that will have Toplist monitors in the first roll out.

ELiZ, always check wich file is shown at the Download button in SF.net, "System.AntiPoke.u.7z" was the file there, wich should be "25Assist.zip" or Linux/Mac version. I've fixed by editing the file properties @ https://sourceforge.net/projects/aa25assist/files/Binaries/ (click in the " i " icon), change the Download button label (write something or it shouldn't work) and select the OS version for each file (win, mac or linux).
Great work  :style: .

I'll push updated maps as soon as possible

Extraction would be also good for the toplist.
nice place could be "Coffe", for maybe a second one "Warehouse"
:)

Dont want to sound rude, but stats displayed at in-game maps is a bit useless idea. It's good for show-off and a bit fun, but not for real stats monitoring, like most of people here like to do.

On urban you can put in inside the objective in a corner.  Also possible inside alpha en delta near stairs. And in echo or foxtrot (sniper spots)

Objects like tv or any other objective that would be more realistic (if by pressing key) it would show up. Just a short suggestion.
