Title: 25Assist Problems
Post by: ELiZ on Saturday, January 19, 2013, 06:26:59 AM
This started an hour ago or so.

In 25Assist you get this message:
Error verifying system components, check your Firewall/Connection

This is caused that Sourceforge.net, that hosts some of the components of 25Assist have problems ATM.

I'll post here when I know more.

This has happend to a few of us all at the same time.  So its a Auth issue?

I managed to still get into and out of game, but another player couldnt join.

walk around:

after restarting your Server, this message appears. then do NOT confirm that error message, just let it and it will work.

No, it's a Sourceforge.net problem.
Some of their servers seems to time out from time to time, and thats why the problem is so erratic.

I just downloaded 25Assist yesterday and I was almost sure the problem was on my side when I saw that error. Also, another problem I'm having is trying to figure out where all the AA game files were stored. I am using Win XP and there is no Application Data folder under my username in the Documents and settings like the FAQ says.

it is a hidden folder. you have to unhide it over windows explorer settings.
C:\Documents and settings\USERNAME\Application Data\25Assist\

Is this project still open source? Sourceforge only has the source for 7.11. Also why do we have to have UDP port 1718 open? I refuse to open it because it is NOT needed to run a sever. Oh and doesn't sourceforge have like 1000+ mirrors...time outs shouldn't be an issue. Oh ya and.... isn't Punkbuster the component that searches local system for for files/services. The Assist client should not have anything to do with that? Ever since Christmas things have been real sketchy.... :sign_wtf:

P.S. Merlin bro.... close your ports man! Your box is the most insecure at the moment.

unreal server uses game port (eg 1716) + 2 = 1717 & 1718
Assist should and was "searching" files before any update.

Hello there,

May I fix this authentication/connection fail on client side or only on server side? I have a SourceForge.net account and my username is linked with AA25Assist Project, but not with SCM - Source Code Management Server. Let me know.

Thanks in advance and best regards.

Hey guys,

Thought I'd try to lend a hand here. I loaded my server through SSH and went to login. Here's the readout from the SSH window with the server's communication readout:

Hope this helps solve the problem somehow. Cause it ain't lettin me connect at all. Although there are some that are still able to play. Kinda makes no sense.

Kind regards,
