Title: Ford EcoBoost Torture Tests
Post by: Spanky on Sunday, January 09, 2011, 20:21:51 PM
Searching on YouTube for Mike Rowe whatnots and I somehow came across these videos. They're videos uploaded by Ford that show a unique marketing strategy: torturing their own engine and then running it through tests that won't be replicated in the real world. Pretty epic stuff, there's plenty of room for speculation but it's still impressive.

Test 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5r6WZZn2TpQ
Test 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4X_INCEzqo

Watch them all, they're pretty cool.

*EDIT*
I'll be uploading a pack with all the videos in mp4 format for your viewing pleasure.

Whoa beastly.

Now we gotta wait for the next video. I wonder if the engine lost any horsepower or torque.

They put up the final one but it's rather boring unless you're a gearhead.

Here's the last video:

I must say holy crap. I was expecting the engine to lose some bhp and torque but it's practically like new. I remember an episode on top gear where they bought older Italian super cars and on average all their engines lost about 100 bhp from their original specifications. I'm also pretty sure those super cars didn't go thru deep freezing and thawing over and over like the ford engine did.

So, yea, props for Ford. Now if only I was good with cars Id just keep using the same engine for a lifetime.
