BFBC2
« on: Saturday, April 07, 2012, 01:43:26 AM »
I got BCBC2 today cause I seen it was a decent price but im unable to play it. My pc meets the requirments but im unable to do anything. Im running a ATI Radeon HD 4800   and cant set my resolution lower then 1280x1024. The game loads and cant click anything on the menu cause the resolution. I need 800x600 but EA/Dice wont allow it so I spent money on a game I cant even play.If I go into the game settings I can set it to 800x600 and set it to read only but load the game and after a short time goes back to the same reso. Makin this game unplayable. Im not gonna go out and buy a new monitor or video card for a game that Ill only play once or so a week cause im to busy. If read and read on google, steam everywhere and all i see is "Get a new computer" "Who plays with 800x600" I do -.-

Sorry man. I gotta admit though, even 1024x768 is pretty pointless. Your monitor's native is best, even if you play on lowest settings. Try updating your graphics drivers and DirectX. Maybe force DX9 in the settings, I know there's an option for it.

Well I agree with the people, about not playing in 800x600.

I never had an awesome computer too, until lately because they cost...

But I never liked playing in the minimum. It's not how the game is meant to be played, you kinda lose the game, even if you finished it and liked it, it's like if you haven't played the same game.

Well, I saved money for years to buy a new PC, I think is what you should also do, or maybe buy a used better graphic card for cheap (depending on the rest of the PC).
Keep Cool

You have an 800x600 resolution? I didn't think people still had those. 1024x768 is even fading away.

Killa, most monitors, even modern ones support 640x480, that's typically what the BIOS comes up as. Technically, you could play games that low but anything other than native means pixels are being stretched/distorted/lost. Do the math, if your monitor is 1920x1080 and you're playing at 1024x768 then every pixel width wise is scaled to 1.875 it's original size. You can't fill just .875 of a pixel :) Now, if you played at 960x540 that might be ok, because it's scaled perfectly half the size. It's sad that a lot of people don't care. They're usually the same ones with onboard sound :)

Yeah but he's saying he can't use the menu because the resolution is too high, leading me to believe that that was actually his native resolution.

So, 1280x1024 is the lowest but you can't play on that due to FPS? You could get a little better GPU. I'm running a 8600GT now and played BFBC2 on medium settings at that resolution and it was playable.
