Spanky was bragging about Adobe Photoshop and its new content-aware fill. So, I told him that that's nothing new, the Gimp has had that for years.

There might be a few noticeable artifacts, but I didn't spend very long on this. And that's the cool part. :)

Photoshop's content-aware filter is for resizing images to improper proportions.

This will be a new feature in Photoshop CS5, so I don't know if it was called something else in older versions. In The Gimp it's called resynthesize what it does is you select a portion of the image, the tool will then delete that and refill it with contents that fit the surroundings. It has nothing to do with resizing as far as I'm aware.

Watch that video, Killaman. I think you'll find out just how powerful the tool is, and how much time it can save you. If you were to do that by hand it would take many hours, You would have to match everything up by hand, while this filter does it all for you.

Yeah, I understood it wrong. I just watched the video and that looks amazingly helpful. Would save a ton of time.

Thats funny because theres a scaling algorithm that is called Content-Aware in the Edit menu I believe, which is used for resizing images as I have said (and I believe I did upload my wallpaper somewhere around here which was 16:9 and I resized it to 4:3 with the content-aware filter and everything remained proportional).
Calling this the content-aware filter/fill can be confusing to refer to.
