I got a cellular the other day and I was thinking of ways to customize it. The simplest and quickest way was for me to change the default sounds on it. So earlier today I got on FL Studio and messed around until I got what I think I wanted.
- For incoming text messages I made this - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/503811/SineWave.mp3
I wanted something short, not annoying, and maybe a little atmospheric. It's also properly named because the tones were made with 3 oscillating sine waves :) This sound particularly I made everything myself.
- The ringtone ended up being this - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/503811/Comba-Ringtone.mp3
At first I wanted something atmospheric like being really dazed and floating out in space. But I couldn't find or make anything that was fitting with how it was sounding in my head. So then I looked thru my ridiculously extensive supply of kits and sounds, put a few together, added some band-pass effects, a bit of magic and got this. 22 seconds is enough for 1 ring eh ;)
Those are probably the only sounds coming out of the phone because I don't like hearing anything else. Everything is muted except the incoming text sound, ringtone, and the xylophone keypad tones. Either all that or its on silent.
What do you think of my sounds? Better than the default trash that comes with phones?

I really like the SineWave. The ringtone is ok, I don't think it will turn out as good on the phone though.
-
mans, I think you forgot the "a" in Hai.
-
lolololol ;D

I've been thinking of making a WAV version for Spanky so he can listen to it thru his elaborate audio system.
-
lol it doesn't matter for me. I just think a lot of your talents & subtle effects may not be audible on your cell. On a semi-related note, you should make a Windows sound scheme along those lines.
-
I know the sinewave will be perfectly audible. The ringtone though . . . as long as it rings lol.
As you can see, I still have moved them over to my cell yet.
Success. Somehow I figured out I can email my phone lol. I attached the 2 files and great success. The sinewave file is gorgeous. The ringtone doesn't work too bad but personally I can't hear the phone in my pocket with any ringtone on the highest sound level :P

Haha, nice work :)
On a semi-related note, you should make a Windows sound scheme along those lines.

lol. You must really want a new sound scheme. I'll try a couple. Any particular sounds you thinking of?
-
lol I just think it's a good idea. Not that I'd use it a lot (startup sound and click sound are disabled) but I think your talents would be most appreciated there.

Maybe I can make a "basic waves" edition sound scheme. A scheme using only sine, square, saw, and triangle waves. :)
It's actually really fun doing it once you figure out how it all works. I bet you could do it easy spanky.
-
I do like playing with SineGen :) Maybe one of these days I'll try it.

One of these days when I get on AIM Ill show you the sophisticated way to playing with waves :)
Everytime I mess around with it, I really would love to have a hardware synthesizer.
