We where going for kind of a movie feel. Sort of like these are stills from a new film. I think we achieved that in a few shots.

Everything is out of focus, also you could do some color correcting, and sharpening.

Its suppose to be soft so nothings going to seem sharp and in focus. Color correction is not needed all of that was intended. This is the look the client and I were going for.

EFFF headshot for not resizing right at all.

Also, I don't doubt that they could use some retouching. But I don't retouch my photos. At most I crop and adjust contrast/exposure. If I can't get useable photos with out retouching then I might as well quit photography.

I got that, but like the motive behind the soft.

Where do you get the concept of movie stills being blurry. ( im not trying to sound like an ass just testing the motives )

If you look, the photos are soft, nothing is blurred. I'm re-uploading to flickr because headshot and dropbox hate my photos.

Blur implies motion. There is no motion in these shots. I'll replace the main post with the flickr uploads once they are done uploading.

And I never answered your question. There isn't really any motive behind it. I was trying a new style and the client said she wanted pictures that where "epic" like "movie stills" and this is how it turned out. I'm not super happy but happy enough and the client loves them.

I'm with Jared. The first picture is horribly blurry. It does hurt my eyes as well. Blur translates across all monitors (unless it's a movie) so I would think you would see that Kody. The first picture, the road is in focus. If you were looking for a soft style, don't focus on the road. Out of all of them I like Athena-5 the most. If she wanted movie stills, you shoulda shot a 1080p movie and taken some stills lol, 1080p pictures are still pretty nice as far as size.

I knew a chick like this once, they're pretty cute IMO, some go over the top with the whole goth/punk thing but some are just kooky enough that it's hot.

Also, LOL at your picture issues. It's totally easy. The forums always do it for me but if it doesn't, just add width=650 in the IMG BB code. Like so:
Code: [Select]
[IMG width=650]http://hsc.natescomp.com/img.jpg[/IMG]Dump that Flickr, just use Dropbox or your epic hosting package before it expires.
It's like shaving your pubes to make your junk look bigger.
Might look bigger, but it aint.....

i would try using filters for a soft look, instead of unfocused.

I can see the concept behind the unfocused look. You know what you can try is see how it'd look if the colors were de-saturated instead of saturated. And I think a couple shots need to be a bit more.....contrasted??? Like numbers 1 and 6 should have brighter whites/highlights but the blacks should stay the same.

Number 7 kinda sorta somewhat reminds me of grindhouse. Maybe it's the car.

Also between numbers 3 and 4, I think 4 is better.

Thanks for all the feed back every one. I will be using/taking a ton of it. This was my first shoot with a my newest lens and the client was very happy with it so I guess its a success!

Nate I use flickr because its an amazing way to network with other photographers and get feedback on my pics from professionals.
