Business Card
« on: Wednesday, September 15, 2010, 16:41:37 PM »
I see a lot of stuff online about making your own and whatnot, I'd love to. Problem is, I fail creatively with a blank slate. Anyone out there want to make me a business card that I can print and re-edit with changing info?

*EDIT*
Requirements:
Name (Nate Rowe)
Who the fuck am I? (Computer Technician)
Can has contact? (www.natescomp.com) (ppl that are important or local, I'll just write my number on it by hand)

This should be something that I just open & print out. I don't know what's required for doing that (setup and something about spill-over for ink) cuz that shit confuses me.

I went with super simple yet classic. I have the PSD if you want it.

The card is 3.5 inches (long) by 2 inches (high) and I just noticed its not centered at all but I can fix that if you end up wanting this.

Suggestion is cursive type font for Spanky's name.

I hate hard to read font on business cards, they are small enough as it is (I'm thinking of bumping up the font size on this one) with out adding scrolly text to it. Simple is the way to go. They are cheaper to print and easier to understand.

I edited the first post. Font can be a little fancy. I generally like SegoeUI since it's the Windows 7 font that's smooth and super pretty but it doesn't have to be that. General rule for business cards: name must be the biggest thing. As big as possible. I do like and want simple but I think that might be too simple. Right now I only have black ink so black is best (not what she said). Kody, as far as yours... I think it needs a little more work. Honestly, that's something I could come up with and I'm a noob.

Also, this isn't a demand, it's a challenge. If nobody makes one, I'll figure it out and do something basic.

Nothing special, but I tried.

EDIT: the reason I left that perfect amount of white space in the middle is so you can handily write your number or whatever other contact info to whomever you want! :)

No offense with what's been posted but none of this is really what I'm looking for. Half my struggle in this is how to print it. With a few days, I could probably come up with a design that is ok for me but printing... I'm clueless. I have a PSD business card that's apparently all setup to print but I'm only seeing 1 per page which wastes a lot and is gonna be a pain to cut. I may just go to Staples and see what they charge...

*EDIT*
This is what I'm looking at:

Not the design but how to print it...

ok spanky heres the thing. Make a simple business card thats all white and no borders. Then all you need to do is tell photoshop to print multiple copies of it on 1 page. Theres a setting for number of copies per page somewhere on there, not sure right now where. Then just print as many and u want and use one of those cutting boards (where you place a paper on the board and pull a lever down and cut the paper) to cut your paper into nice rectangles. By far the easiest way without going pro with colors and edge bleeding and shiz.

I was thinking about that but I don't have a cutting board =\ I wonder what the card paper is like if it's pre-cut with perforations or how they come. It may just be one of those things that's too complicated to do at home and cheap enough to have done at Staples. The problem is that I only wanted to print like 10 or so in case I wanted to change something or fancy it up.
