You choose.

square, terminal conflict, sniper canyon and urban defence will have to be removed in order to make the 50mb limit, there no point voting on it.
These maps and interdiction can be brought back in later update patch releases where we only have to download the new map and not the whole maap pack again.

Why do they have to be removed? You made the 50mb limit, which I don't think anybody else agrees with.

I'm not trying to be a dick about it but why does a perfectly good map like Square have to be omitted? Especially when you say they will be brought back later on. Why not a 60mb limit and break it up into 2 30mb chunks?

It also makes more work for the tours.ini when I have to remove and re-add maps. I feel like there's something I'm not understanding.

Square is pretty popular. Ask any players here. Instead of slapping on a limit, we should probably rethink the way we organize mAAp and AA together if we're going to merge it. Just like how you separate each folder for AA, mAAp should also have file separation to make it easier for future updates. Where if we don't update/change a certain component, that file doesn't need to be updated. Simple.

Also about those other maps.....we just want to know if players think they should be removed completely or if they think we can/should "upgrade" them. The players are pretty smart, they have map creating opinions that are as important as ours.

OK we can keep square. But i'm just thinking about people with shit internet connections.
In future we will only have to update files that are changed so we can release new maaps without having to download the whole thing again.
I just worried because when the next update comes out everyone is going to be hit with a mandatory demand to download 54mb and i know there are still people using dial-up to play this game.
And i would like to get this done ASAP, I'm getting fed up of working all hours gods sends and want my life back now. Lets get this release done! then a couple of weeks down the line we can update existing maps or release now ones easily.

That's all I wanted :) I totally agree with minimizing file sizes and making multiple packages so if one fails, it can be re-downloaded rather than the whole thing. That's all great. I just didn't want to omit Square. Blue found that I had a 3mb texture duplicated in the texture package so he's going remove it or make me remove it, one of the two. I also removed a fair bit of Crunk's faggotry like useless Boxxy and "I<3Thundy" texture projectors.

So... Sniper Canyon and Urban Defense are gone. Since the current vote for Terminal Conflict is tied, let's dump it too. A better map (like Interdiction) could take it's place.

I want to do the overhead shots for T-Maps as well as the new HD map shots for Assist but I'll push those back a version so we can get the public beta out there. But, talking with Blue, I think we're good for a release Friday night or Saturday morning. Whenever you want to push it out. I don't really see anything major holding us back.

Why don't you break up the maps so people can choose which ones to download.  Or option to download everything.

I have over 300 maps and I have seen half these hosted on servers before.

So why download something if your never going to play it, unless your like me and don't care if maps are 70Mb and you have over 6GB's of them.

For security reasons we need everone using assist to have an extacly matching file set

Not sure how not having a map file becomes a security risk..

Square?  :o  That's one of the best maps in the mAAp pack. Get rid of a bad map like Teh Yeti's Lair before you get rid of a good one.

remove it, its shit.

Opinions like these don't help.

I think we can also trim out Aimfun. That was a fun map 5 years ago when we had little idea of how to use the editor. Now it's just a lame map that I never see anybody playing.

Are you sure you're thinking of the same Terminal Conflict? Because it is one of the more sophisticated and detailed maps in the mAAp pack. It's probably my favorite if it was more centered around the lobby. It's far from shit. It also has ammunation, and who can argue against that? :P

remove it, its shit.

? Explain. Every opinion matters (when it's a deep explained and it makes sense). A little respect wouldn't hurt anyway ;)

Actually I've come to the conclusion that 19 maps for the next mAAp pack release isn't enough. Through complicated mathematics I've decided to release 39 maps. I'm removing 9 of the original maps, so if you add this up there will be 29 NEW MAPS for all players to play. They will feature the best in gameplay and teamwork. There will be maps with multiple transport objectives, random spawn points, and some special destructible objective maps for SF teams. It is amazing that we can do something like this within 2 days time.

good thing maap has a fully funded, fully staffed team with large office space for their mac laptops and energy drink vending machines.

Thats the only reason 29 new maps are being introduced. Also whales.
