Hey, I was wondering if there was any way I might be able to try my hand at map making. I might be able to make a few good maps from what I have in mind already. Im not sure if I'm allowed but I kinda wanna try it. If someone could get back to me on this issue, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Marine Recruit Patton

use map editor from 2.8.5, make it for aa v2.8.5 and if its 'good' i assume somebody here could convert it to maaps for 2.5
-
Any clue on where I could get that? Sorry, I'm kind of a "noob".
-
I'm pretty pleased with both Max's recent work in the 2.8 editor and seeing some interest from other people. More custom maps is good, everyone has huge amounts of storage... I personally wouldn't object to having a few gigs of AA maps :)
-
This might work: http://aao-daily.eu/index.php?option=com_jdownloads&Itemid=115&task=view.download&catid=5&cid=9
-
Negative neither worked, can one of ya'll just upload it to a website for me?
-
I think it's over 2GB, I doubt anyone would want to do that no matter how nice you are :) Check for torrents of 2.8.5
-
Just the editor is 2Gb? dam....and i cant torrent anything i cant download those things
-
Try this: http://chevys-place.game-server.cc/AA2.php
You only need 2.8.3. You are not required to install all the patches :)
-
Roger that, Thanks. I'll begin work on...idk which map...lol but ill figure one out, when it finishes in about an hourish

Learn the basics first, then try making your own map.
Here's a good resource to follow http://www.angelmapper.com/gamedev/tutorials/beginner1.htm
-
Yeah, I was gonna just wing it on insurgent camp if i can find the file and see what i can do on there, but I suppose i can go noob and read a guide :-X Lol
-
You can peek at other maps, but it might be overwhelming if you don't know how to maneuver the interface.
-
Im still brand new at all this crazy editing stuff but that tutorial that blue posted has been and still is a HUGE helpful resource that I go back to every 30 seconds when im editing :P
-
Heh, SF Extraction looks fun, how do you make the doors move like you guys did on the mAAp Pipeline?
-
No spoon feeding :)
You're on your own for a little while. Get the basics in, don't start going for the big things.
-
But..but......I like rushing >_<
-
how do you make the doors move like you guys did on the mAAp Pipeline?
Which doors?
-
I assume he might be meaning the garage doors.
-
Yeah because you know the doors on extraction the slide up ones i was thinking maybe making some slide up into buildings ETC maybe some elevators and stuff when i get more advanced
-
They're basic movers. Start at point A, move to point B when triggered.
-
This is alot harder than i thought...

Hence why we don't hand out the 2.5 editor. Everybody thinks they can do it but few have the patience and talent to create something decent.
