Title: Interdiction AI
Post by: Mr_Loempia on Sunday, June 10, 2012, 19:21:38 PM
Hello Guys,

I want to  host a server for playing pipeline or interdiction. But the map interdiction has changed to play against other players. Is it possible to play interdiction on the way it was on aa 2.8.5?

Nor is there any working method for having AI bots online. I've tried a little in the past but it needs to be researched more before it's deemed possible.

I think it would be cool to get working AI but at the same time i always thought the AI in AA was really weak. When they first came out with snakeplain and interdiction they were fun like the first time playing them and then it was just boring. They were really easy to kill and would always miss you and then every once in a while they would get a random headshot. Would it even be possible to make the AI smarter with UnrealEd? Is that something that would have to be coded? I'm not very familiar with it.

There's AI in the Overmatch editor you have, AI that was never released. Did I ever tell you to drop the 2.5 ArmyOps into the editors system folder and run it? Have a go, it's pretty cool. Unfortunately, it's offline but it shows what's 'possible'.

I have done that actually. The little maps where you have to drive around and push the enemy back and stuff. It is pretty cool. I'm really interested in getting working vehicles into a map

I tend to run away from anything with the word "script" in it

Just to let you imagine how messy the 2.5 AI is, back then i actually tried to use NPCs in the map, not an opfor but just "people" to give a more lively feeling to the map. Tried testing on Spanky's server and he immediatly noticed the server was being way too spammy, because of uncompleted AI stuff (basically the server log would fill with error logs for megabytes and slowing down or even crashing).
