added levelshot to T-mAAp_Pack_6.utx

Thank you for saying this. It's communication like this that helps prevent things from being over-written.

*EDIT*
I hate to be picky but the level shots suck. There's a timer at the top right and no anti-aliasing was used =\ Though, I do applaud you for using DX1 compression.
Also, a note to sergio, you'll have to add the screenshots to this site.

Feel free to update, I just added them since it wasn't done yet.
I'll use the dropbox version when the deadline expires

I completely forgot about the briefings for Rooftop. Also, Petrol should be in the next update too. I just need to add some objectives and comm locations.

To be fair, I was too lazy to do it myself anyway :) Something's better than nothing!

Thanks for doing this update, it's not just me but Killa, Max and Koden that have quite a bit of effort & time into the updates.

I think your timeline sounds pretty good. Is there going to be a beta or just a straight release and then maybe a followup release to fix any bugs like a week later or something?

Briefings for Rooftop are done.

Also, there will be a mAAp release thread with screenshots, videos, descriptions and all that good stuff shortly before it releases.

I could do a 7.19 release with the content of the dropbox the 27:th dec.Or perhaps earlier if all involved agree.
This release would be a full version only, 7.14 would not automatically update to 7.19. We could use that as a beta.

Then as planned 7.20 would be released the second week in Jan. This would auto upgrade 7.14 to 7.20

Will you make it the same "format" as the other mAAp maps
For instance name it MP_Petrol.aao
I don't know what more that needs to be fine adjusted the mAAp format.

Yeah I will. I made Rooftop and City Block the same way. I usually change the name and all that when I'm done making the map.

I agree. In my experience with prior releases, there are many bugs that come out with real gameplay, it's just the nature of the beast. Having a beta allows us to check for that and make final tweaks for a full version that people use for quite a while.

I might release my jungle map if I can get a couple things done on Pipeline in time.

I don't have anything against that. The majority play on Windows anyway :)

Killa, can you try it again with v4? The only reason I could see for that would be either terrain or decolayers...

This update/thread is regarding maps only. I realize Possessed made a modification to adjust flashes but it should be addressed in another thread.

I'm in the middle of shrinking the filesize of Contingency. I'll post a dropbox download to the map and briefings in this thread when I finish it. If one of you guys could stick it in the dev dropbox, I'd appreciate it.

Edit: Here's the updated map: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/25230487/MP_SF_Contingency.zip

Wow lol, still 60MB :) I don't think it matters a whole lot though. If you think of 60MB of lightmap textures (which it isn't), that's nothing on a modern graphics card's memory.

Since I haven't commented on your map yet, it's a real badass. It's like Weapons Cache on steroids. Very good job done on it.

*EDIT*
Also, out of curiosity, I packed the update (on top of the unedited files from the previous version) and it's 40kb shy of being the 2nd largest mAAp release yes. v4.5 was a sheer pig (had 5 variations of Bridge). It was before Assist came around and included a bunch of extra stuff. This upcoming release will be the largest one ever in Assist.
Title: Re: Assist 7.20 mAAp updates
Post by: ELiZ on Sunday, December 23, 2012, 05:20:19 AM
When I packed it came out 75947086 bytes.
And if there 2 more maps.. so I'll say we'll be pushing 100MB
Title: Re: Assist 7.20 mAAp updates
Post by: Spanky on Sunday, December 23, 2012, 13:31:14 PM
The maps compress quite well. Contingency was around 60MB but came down to under 12 or so when I downloaded it if I recall right. There was a LOT of useless maps in v4.5. It's nice to see this upcoming release have many quality maps without having bloat. Look at any modern games' DLC, you won't find anything that's under 100MB :D

Yeah it might be twice as big as mAAP Pipeline but I get 4x the performance on it. :P

It definitely does. I'm still not sure how you got the sunlight to look so great. I tried adding sunlight to a couple of my maps and it always looks like crap.

Who are willing participate in the beta?
I can help out in testing maps; even if I will suck I seem to have a keen eye for some details.

What tests should we run?
Balancing issues will be hard to detect in the time and resources (beta players) that I can see in this Beta.

Post here is you can help out in testing the new maps, Beta will be active between 27: Th of December and 5: Th of January.

Here is the 7.19 Beta Client for Windows and Linux

http://sourceforge.net/projects/aa25assist/files/Binaries/719/

Unpack to a NEW folder somewhere, I recommend you using your desktop.

I've included the Folder called 25Assist on the windows client, so that it will automatically ask you if you want to use that instead of the Application data, I suggest that you awnser Yes, so that the Beta will be completly seperate from your current Assist version. If you fail to seperate the two, you will be kicked/banned when you try to play back in 7.14(Current) version.

I’ve also included a aa-pbsv.cfg that you can use if you want to run a 7.19 Beta Server.
Replace the one that is created in your server folder(The server folder will only be there when you started the server once)

So once again, when you get the question if you want to use the 25Assist foled instead of Application Data, click Yes

I'll keep a server up as long as I can, It's named:
ELiZ's 7.19 Beta Server
I'll join myself from time to time with my test account,
ELiZ.aao25.com

This Beta will be active until 4:th of Jan.
Can any of the mappers explain what we need tested?

Thank ELiZ, downloading now :D

Got some error reporting, where do I post it?

Maybe just keep it in this thread and edit your original post with a bug list? Also, maybe add the download and instructions to your original post as well?

As for testing, it would be ideal to have 2 people in a server, one on each team and have them run to various routes to make sure the spawns are balanced and fair. Then just run around looking for odd things, glitches, places you aren't supposed to access or places where you get stuck. Anything abnormal really. Plus, if you get kicked for CVAR or MD5 or something. Hospital needs to be tested with the new ambush rooftop.

It's because of TeamView being enabled with HackHunter enabled or something like that...

I have a bug. I got the beta downloaded (and setup in another location), had it find my stock installation of 2.5 to copy the files. It downloaded everything else. I go to Join ELiZ's server and it says "downloading T-Maps not allowed". We had this issue many times before. It looks like in my beta install that I have the original T-Maps from the 2.5 release.

*EDIT*
Yea, there's something wrong here. There's a few maps missing as well;
Bridge Construction, Monkey Island, PBall, SF Refinery, Spankyville, Yeti's Lair, Urban Assault SE and UT04.

It looks like T-Maps wasn't included from the 7.1 release. ELiZ, I probably should have mentioned this somewhere... but the files on Dropbox are an update to the 7.1 full release so the files from 7.1 need to be merged/overwritten with the 7.2 files on Dropbox.

Testing Petrol:

There's some clipping through at the truck corner, it allows you to look "behind" the fuel pumps.

Thanks for that. It's probably the anti-portal I have on it isn't completely cover up by the truck.

i also noticed inside the building with those pile of wood boxes at the ground floor, the inner stairs are a bit stretched (under scaled) horizontally so you happen to slip, especially if your not walking ahead but slightly sideway and/or aiming.

There are some other things but theyre not showstoppers, and i dont wanna clog the thread up with single posts, ill rather update this one or fill another one with all the findings.

You are correct to assume that there are stuff missing.
The request was to have the maps on the dropbox tested in a beta release.
So I just included the packages I thought were needed.

Do a "Download" instead of copy and you should be able to play the missions in question.
With download you should get all the maps, including the ones you were asking for.

jumped around on Petrol for a bit.

Nice idea about the power unit and the cables around ;)

bridge rails (meshes align)

in the Cafeteria, the closest table to the doors stops you to walk through when the door is opened towards the inside of the room, you have to walk around it (it also happens at the 2nd floor).

a few small size textures used for interior ceilings.

You can crawl and get under the yellow van at the petrol station (can't tell if you wanted it to be like this?)

The tank truck ladder is not really usable, again not sure if you want it to be or not. (and the truck fuel side tanks protrudes slightly so the ladder area is not even).

You can reach a small space between the wall and the sinks in the kitchen of the small restaurant close to the burning tank (you can crouch and hide in there, as much as lying on the floor but that's rather useless).

Fair enough. I was just trying to avoid downloading that much stuff. I'm glad you're aware of it though. This isn't a kind of issue you would want to have for a full release :)

Thanks again for packing it up. I'll probably get my own server started for US testers.

*EDIT*
Killa, I know this isn't a bug but I just thought it would be nifty to add the word "PETROL" to the gas station roof thing. Like most gas stations have their logo there. There's letters in the mAAp staticmesh package that you could use.

*EDIT*
Also for the current bugs:
Maybe just keep it in this thread and edit your original post with a bug list? Also, maybe add the download and instructions to your original post as well?

I'm unable to switch to Petrol through Admin panel.
I cant spot the error in Tours.ini, where  I assume the error is?

It works with admin switch MP_Petrol.

I can't find an issue either, are you sure that you have the latest version?

Really weird, I see it on my end too. Same for City Block.

I have a server up now, anyone that wants admin on it, just post with your in-game name and it's yours.
