AA2.5 Ingame Sound
« on: Tuesday, April 02, 2013, 14:00:00 PM »
To start off, sorry if this is in the wrong topic.

Basically, I quit playing America's Army ~2008. Back then I could clearly hear everything (doors opening, people walking on e.g. metal / snow / rock floor.) but lately all I can hear are the shots and the exploding of nades. I have my laptop's sound on full as well as the ingame sound.

For example, I can't hear a door opening when I'm 5 metres away from it whilst in the past I could hear, on pipeline, the vents opening from the pump room.

Does anyone have a solution?

Back in 2008 maybe you played on a desktop computer with a dedicated soundcard?

Or are you just complaining the the sound is overall to quiet?

And I know there's been talk about the sound being messed up win Windows Vista/7 (and onwards?), but I can't remember what to do to fix it. I'm sure there are threads on these forums explaining it, just search for it.

Are you using your laptops speakers or a headset?
Its just because on my pc I have 5.1 surround sound set up and even on loud I can't hear the stuff like your describing, but once i plug a headset in I can hear everything.

1 thing you can try as first, when you start a game or something on w7 the sound is gonna lower automatic because of this function: start -> Control panel -> Sound(Hardware&Sound) -> Communication , then you have 4 options. Mark the last: No action

You will have some more volume ingame now. For the rest.. buy a soundcard if you wanna hear everything;)

hmmm iam using a realtek onboard chip since my decicated soundcard is broken (Asus Xonar D2)

With that onboard chip its better to choose "normal" 3D Audio in AA Settings and not Hardware 3D + EAX.

On the other hand you can alter the channels given to you in AAO ini.

Got mine at 64 instead of 32. With a dedicated soundcard like XIFI titanium or Asus Xonar you can also use 128.

And oh yeah Headset is a Corsair Vengeance 1500 7.1.

I have the Sennheiser PC250 aswell, it´s not that the sound i sn´t loud, its just that its impossible to hear footsteps or doors opening. I think I have an onboard sound card, only see a sticker with EAX Advanced HD 4.0 on this thing haha

Well, this ain´t gonna work, any suggestions on an external sound card? I'm not loaded with cash so preferably the cheapest x-fi or w/e.

You could take a look into your aao audio settings if "low sound details" is checked or not.

Because I got absolutely no sound probs with that onboard chip :-)

Anyways where are you from so I could check a price for you.
