Don't get me wrong I love America's Army as much as the next person but lately I've just been getting bored with the game. Not only that but the only way to stand a chance and get a few kills is if your ini is tweaked and you have a good headset and soundcard. I can't sit back and relax and play because of the amount of ridiculous shit that happens (everyone glitching and exploiting to get kills) and a lot of the people that play now (at least on the NA side of things) are just immature asshats. Kinda just venting here but you won't be seeing me playing much AA anymore sad to say.

When have I said that? There is a difference between not having confidence and looking at things realistically. We're not going to get a huge player increase, it just won't happen., The game is too old and has very little going for it. That doesn't mean there is no hope for a good future. We should be happy that AA 2 still exists. Although the amount of hackers had shaken my confidence some, I still believe this project will survive.

I have a pretty good headset but I'm on a laptop w/ on board sound and zero edits in any of my ini's, and i still do pretty well. I don't really know what glitches or exploits you're talking about. I do get annoyed of cocky asshole players as much as the next person. Seems like it's stemming from players who were only ever decent and now with the player base so low they're good comparatively and they're getting big egos, but don't let it get to you.
I was going to comment on the shakira/sergio thread before it got locked, but as a basketball player that played through high school and still plays regularly, I'd like to make a point on that comment. People who trash talk in sports are usually known for being trash talkers rather than for their skills and are rarely liked/respected. Do your talking with your skills and have some sportsmanship, everyone has more fun.
I agree that some people need to get some thicker skin here. This shit has been happening in AA for 10 years, but I also agree it's not fun for anyone to go into a server looking to relax and compete in such an unfriendly atmosphere.

I'm not saying I don't believe in the project. I love the fact that AA2 is still around and kicking. As killa said the player base isn't going to grow. The same thing that happened to aa happened to another game I used to play called Descent 3. Once it died out you had a core group of people that created a community and kept on playing. Eventually it dwindled down to about 15 people playing the game now.
All I'm saying is people need to quit being 10 year olds with their try hard panties all in a bunch and enjoy the game. I've observed it only getting worse since I have gotten back into AA.

This is 100% false. Most times when I am in a public server i dont even use sound. Sure you arent going to go 13-0, but you can still get a decent amount of kills.

I know a guy who kills 2x more without sound lol, I haven't played much because of my ping, rarely ppl say something offensive to me and when that happens, I just ignore, theres alot of room to play on(~90 servers), the problem isn't the game, but the ppl behind the keyboard.

2.5 has too many tryhards now, it's not fun like it was before. People, this game is very old, playing super competitive on pubs is just silly.

As per ini's -- its meh. Everyone seems to think that there is some _golden_ ini that just makes you better. It doesn't ,most so called tweaks arn't tweaks at all but more or less settings to get the game to run the best it can for your machine. :duh:

I have onboard sound on a laptop, so all I can hear is doors open next to me and people moving a few meters away. This doesn't mean I can't take advantage of what I do hear, but it doesn't mean I have to go to my ini's changing shit to hear better either.

Its somewhat true, but I've heard of people who minimize they're recoil through their ini's (don't ask me how, I don't know nor do I care),
But of course the thing you said about sound is true. Even if you know where the enemy is pretty good through sound, if you can't shoot for shit you might not kill him.

I frequently play without sound, and I observed many times that I play better without it. I mostly rush hard, so sound is not that crucial. And when I don't have it, I seem to be more focused on the view, and have better reflex when spotting opfor. You know, it's just that my brain can now dedicate more cell-power for the sights :-D.

I have no problem with comp play at all. It's just not fun for me anymore. There's nothing you or anyone else can do to change that honestly. As for the ini its funny that all the people that argue that "it's all for performance" are the people that mess with them and guess what? Those people are lightyears better than your average player. Seems a bit fishy to me but it is what it is. Obviously there are things in there for performance but there are other things that give you unfair advantages if you know what youre doing. You can't deny that. You can push the whole performance thing all you want. I just dont buy it. :rtfm:

Agree there is no fun anymore on AA, most of people are kids who abuses the system and who abuses the players.
There is no more teamwork which was one of the best things that AA had. You can't improve well enough in AA, no matter how long you play.
Max you are an old player as well as i know, thats what I'm telling you guys people will leave. I have very good experience in AA and you can't judge me for saying my opinion.
Now AA is most of the kids who want's to take advantage, full of tker's and no communication and no teamwork, Most of people don't even use reports now. Full of camping etc, ghosting and many more to say.
Please don't answer if you don't know why spanky and johhny left. You should read their all posts. They were disappointed of AA, they thought they can make this game much better than it was. As I said They didn't see any improvement and people didn't agree in changing anything to the game. So johhny quited because it was a waste of time because he knew that the game won't improve, thats why it was brought back to improve the game.
Spanky now left because of disappointment of AA, same thing why Johhny left. These 2 people worked very hard for AA. Read his leaving topic with the announcements that he is disappointment. Please don't comment on this before you read spankys posts, he also posted a topic why johhny left.

Your wrong, sry. You're putting forward a false correlation. You ever hear the most popular false correlation in history? Its pretty funny, theres a positive correlation between ice cream sales and people drowning. BUT this is false. I'll let you figure out why.
Comparatively, there TENDS to be a positive correlation between good sound and skill. Sorry, but this is also false, for the same reason. People that compete have a reason to want to be even better then they already are. If you compete your probably better than a standard pubber. Therefore skill and sounds is a false correlation. Sounds tweaking is a result of being skilled to begin with.
To get back on topic. idk why the admins of this game weigh their decisions so heavily on the community. Games are successful because admins get together and decide whats best for the game. including the general public in all your decision will get you nowhere. Take control of your own project, use your vision to innovate and mature the game. People will still play and you might actually see the new faces you were looking for. Change keeps things from getting boring.
If people aren't bored they are having fun, if they are having fun they aren't posting sob story posts on a public forum about how the game sucks and they are bored with the community and the fact that they suck.
Not to mention, a little 2.5assist advertising might also help.

This game is great, and always will be.
Its NOT because of the players. I'm sorry, this games success does not ride on the types of people that play. People dont stop playing games because they had a couple bad experiances with other players. Thats just not a reason why people STOP playing a game cold turkey

Sergio, i know your constantly doing your thing with AC, and to be honest without you this game would die fast.
Blueblaster, i know you have probably spent hours upon hours working on your new version of ice. and im sure you have spent hours working on other things related to the game. Despite what you and other mAAp editors think. If this game does survive and does grow mAAp will play a pivotal role in its growth. (you need more people first)
You guys need someone, a developer, someone passionate about seeing this game grow, to develop assist. Someone to work with you serge to make the AC better. Someone to implement mAAp updates. Someone that will actively improve the game.
VERY good Anti-cheat clients existed in the past. The technology exists to make this a hack free game.

Well of course Teh Yetis Lair gets played more than SF Taiga. Just goes to show very few, if any, AA players enjoy realistic levels. Just because 4 people play Teh Yetis Lair and 0 people play SF Taiga doesn't mean mAAp is popular or enjoyed by the masses.
There's 22 people playing mAAp now, that's unusually high but the thing is, they're on shit maps; Glass Kill House, PBall, Yetis Lair. Again, people that don't care about realistic maps. Ruining gameplay the same way mods do.

eKC0mm i kinda understand you but there's a lot going on behind the curtains that you guys don't know, our fault because we are keeping it that way but not everything is that simple.
We had 3 or 4 people that came here and told "oh we need more publicity", they tried, some of us tried also but players don't wanna try a old game, players wanna take advantage of their powerful computer bought last week.
UtRosa is working on a so awesome template for this site that you guys gonna get amazed.
Pit-23 is working nonstop on a new secure assist as we discovered along the way there are too many flaws, and that as been our top priority. You congratulate me for the AC and i say thanks but i'm only doing some backgrounds and inserting bans on Assist as soon the players get caught. Possessed e Pit-23 are doing a great job researching more important stuff.
Killaman, UtRoda and BlueBlaster experience makes all the difference, they are the ones that come up and say "you guys are doing wrong, stop and think..."
Spanky is tired, is blabla but he is still helping us, he didn't turn his back on any of you. He simply have other projects to dedicate his time to.
Then there is other stuff like map bug correcting, made by most of them and Maxbulldog also.
We could had a release earlier last week with some cvars and maaps corrections but we have it on hold as atm can't be the more important thing.
Guys trust me, we are working for you and you guys are gonna like it ;)
But as always, if someone has a great idea, then please share it. Don't wanna do it public? Send a PM to one of the Admins.
As for me, i may have write that thread for being disappointed, but that is about the players, not the game itself. I'm still here, i still pub everyday when i can and yes i would like to join competition but simply not everyone is on the mood for that.

Competition won't save AA. Usage has gone down since TWL came back. Again, it's the users' attitude, I would bet that even if Square and Office get into TWL, very few would pick them for matches.

I'll take your word for it. Shows how little I care to know about TWL. So, best case scenario, 2 out of 38 maps to randomly choose from are mAAp. I think that's actually less than the ratio that currently play mAAp.

Teams can decide on a different map and since most of the competition teams on twl know each other, there is a higher chance those maps can get played.
