Title: Servers of Shame!
Post by: Vanoke on Tuesday, August 06, 2013, 14:09:39 PM
First of all wanne concratulations to the staff of assist that they did a great job t about the controll of hackers and cheaters.  that they me rest in peace.

And that make me come to my topic.
I am still making excuses to players in my server that we don t have hacks and cheats and that we juse mods only
to have more fun and get more skills for all.

So i ask whit this topic think about  a more possitieve intro for us mod servers and also for assist becose its weard that
you don t know if there are cheats in modded servers whit a brand new Hacker - Cheater program.

And we know both that we are playing this FAIR.
That we urn no honer ,Me and a lot adders don t Care but do not suggestion that we play unfair.
Turn it to a possitieve intro its better for assist .
I dit already my part and say that we are lovers of Modded server .
Mods were so far i know they were intredused and  tolerate from 2006 till 2012 by Amerika`s Army

=PUF=Vanoke  MOD M8 :style:

I think what he means is this:

It makes the server looks like people can cheat in there, which makes people the decision to not join the server

A server that runs mods or a server that runs cheats. Its the same thing, it cannot be tracked because it will give invalid stats.

so basically yes. a modded server is considered a cheat server and won't be tracked.

thats not the problem tracker ore not i don t care but  the problem is Cheating is in this case not the right word for modded servers.
Cheaters and hackers you must cut out. modded servers are special for a adder group insite aa army assist.

Yea, special is right, real special.

Mods are lame and are considered a cheat server. You are not playing the game as it is intended. Move on, your argument is invalid

Ya... I like seeing the nubs join a server and type mod at4. It gives me a nice laugh.

Using mods is cheating the game, Consider yourself lucky that you ARE still allowed to run modded servers in assist.

I'm with Vanoke on this one. Modded server aren't tracked anymore, they got a special symbol, special message when you join them, I think it's enough. No need to categorize them as cheaters ...

Guess it's to hard for someone to understand that a cheat server it's when you activate the "cheats" from the server settings and then you can use ghost, god etc

Vanoke, I've explained this many times already. A reliable way to make sure BT doesn't track modded servers is to mark it as a server with cheats enabled. You may or may not have cheats but Assist will always report it as having cheats on so BT ignores it. As I said in your other thread, if users can't bother to look at the white text at the top of the screen while in your server to see that it's NOT running cheats then that's their fault.

As Jonny said, you're lucky you can even play at all. I've been on your server and it's ridiculous. Health regen, high jump, weapon pick... that's not even America's Army anymore.

Also, creating several threads will not solve this "issue". It is the way it is and if you don't like it, you're welcome to stop using Assist.

Ok I didn't know it was the method to make them untracked, my bad

I might go as far to say that Assist could word things a bit differently, to maybe not include the word cheat or something like that but again, you're lucky you can use mods at all.

That's great that people like your server Vanoke but it's not what we believe AA should be. It's not what the original devs intended. We don't want mods but we don't want to lose players. This was the best option and again, marking the server as having cheats is a way to make sure BT doesn't track servers with mods that alter points and other gameplay. We want the tracker to be clean and normal.

Why not change it to ''forceclass'' like SF servers, marking them as cheaters is a bit 2 much imo.

Spanky, mAAps like ut04, paintball etc, aren't tracked, still they ain't considered as cheat servers, how did you manage to do that?

I'm glad you asked Ganja, see there's a very complex method to getting these maps untracked.

Step 1. Make a custom map.
Step 2. Do nothing.

I'll admit step 2 is somewhat an easy step. You see, the work is already done by Homey. Somewhere in the code for Battletracker is something that dictates what maps are and aren't tracked. Could be a whitelist, could be based off tours.ini. I don't know.

There's a possibility of this whole discussion being moot. BattleTracker might be out of the picture in the future.

that's a pretty damn complex method. I wouldn't be able to do that.

Breakout is tracked. It won't show up in a specific map but it will count in general
