Is it possible to make the server logfile expanded with all the following sections in (system, admin, chat messages)? so we can see, what is going on while not online.
-
No, too much work, not enough time.
-
I too would like to see the logs.... Newer version have it.

If I happen to find the old mod that logs admin and player messages, do you think you could remove the pb_say commo messages and a few other things from logs to make them easier to read?
-
Hey Jonny
After new release, it would be very nice to have some more informations about talking tasks in the logfiles.
Maybe now possible then ?

i understand not the question
-
oh sorry.
reading the logfile today will not give me a answer, who was realy playing where and when (only incoming user..).
my wish would be to have some informations/log-entries about:
- admin messages (with timestamp)
- admin commands (with timestamp)
- player messages (with timestamp)
i would be able then to see, what was going on through the whole day and night on my servers.
i could see, witch player was kicked or banned from witch admin, for example.
at the moment, there are a lot of entries, witch do not say realy much about, whats going on in there.
just as a wish, like as it was on 2.8.5 - switching on/off player messages, system messages, admin messages.

Someone would have to write a uscript mod to do this. Sorry, i'm not interested in doing it, but if someone else does i'm happy to build it into the next update.
-
tks anyway.
maybe someone else...
-
I'll look in my code, I know someone did this sometime, it logged chats.
-
Spanky, have you found something about this ?
-
why do u care so much of what people type and so... It will just increase a lot the log and probably lag more...
Keep Cool

Compared to pb its like 1% and all local wouldnt cause anything.

Unfortunately, no. I've looked twice through all my AA files and I can't find the mod that did this. I know it existed but I don't have it. Sorry.

Yeah PB suck...
I remember playing AA in some crappy pc's ages ago, on a lan without PB I could play well...
But online, it kinda made the pc very laggy and stucking more because of pbchecks.

If you make a folder called 'Logs' in the armyops folder, the server will log extra things in that folder like round ends/starts and such. But I don't remember if it logs chats. Worth a try.
-
If I recall, it was something ACI cooked up awhile back that made use of ServerActors
-
Found it: http://www.s-o-t.com/uploads/ACIChatLogger20_Release.zip (http://www.s-o-t.com/uploads/ACIChatLogger20_Release.zip)
Instructions: http://www.s-o-t.com/uploads/CLReadme20.html (http://www.s-o-t.com/uploads/CLReadme20.html)

I did try using it with 2.5, and it crashes the server...so maybe an unreal script expert can dissect the ACI.u file. It's not clear which version of AA it was designed for, but it was before AA2 started supporting chat logs natively. And, again, seems I remember that ServerActors coupled with an ini section previously, also by ACI, but couldn't find anything on it.
-
it was for aa 2.6.
-
2.5 and 2.6 are very similar but things compiled for 2.6 won't work for 2.5 as you found out. I tried stripping the source out but I believe I'm missing some of the source so I won't try to compile.
-
Got comp. erros 2 :D, and then i remembered of humm3r's byte code converter.
I've converted it for 2.5, server doesnt crash and it works fine.
File was Renamed From ACI.u to SOTChatLogger.u to avoid mistakes.
Credits to the creators of the Mod and to Humm3r for his byte code converter.
edit, forgot to upload the file lol

Installation
1) Stop your game server.
2) Move SOTChatLogger.u to your servers System folder.
3)Open your servers ini file and find the section [AGP.StatsRouter] add the following line:
StatsDestinationClasses=class'SOTChatLogger.ChatLogger';
4) Ensure you have stats logging enabled bEnableStatLogging=True
5) Restart your game server.
Your chat logs will be available at http://myserverip/myserverip/ChatLogs.html
and here the logs where at the pb/svss/ folder.

I used his bytecode converter to decompile it but I think the source is missing the HTML code at the very least so I don't think it will work.
-
tested and it works fine!

Seems to be working so far. Thanks Possesed!
