So for those running Windows 8 right now, here's an way to get around till new Assist gets out...

Step 1 - Install:
https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
Then go to this link and download:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8002
(you need a valid Win8 key to download this...)
Step 2 - Extract the files from the virtual machine
Once you have the XPM file must use a software like 7Zip or another. Despite being an executable (CAB) any other software can open that file as well.
Inside you will find several files and a folder named sources. Inside this folder there will be a xpm file name, which should also open with 7Zip or the chosen tool.
Copy the contents of / sources / xmp / into a folder that must create in your system and there is a virtual machine that intended.
There is one last step to take before they can connect to that machine VirtualBox. Change the file extension from VirtualXPVHD and put one that can be used by VirtualBox. We recommend placing extension vhd.
Step 3 - Create a VM in VirtualBox
After this step you just have to launch VirtualBox and create a new machine. Note that the disk to be used is what is inside the folder you created and changed extension in the end. VirtualXPVHD.vhd file.
After creating, the Windows XP machine is ready to be installed and should only follow the known steps of installing Windows XP.

After installing, Windows XP is ready to be used as you could do in Windows 7. Use this version to run applications that do not work correctly in your Windows 8 because have been designed and created for Windows XP. They are also running genuine Windows XP and licensed on your machine.

Does windows 8 come with the virtual xp like win 7 did?
-
no it dose not you have to download it
-
You also had to download it for Win 7 but the license to run it was included with win 7 so you didn't need an xp license.

nice work sergio
i did that a month ago. everything worked fine. some problems with the grafic configuration first, but then i could install aa25assist. but i had those two effects then:
1. was very laggy (and it was a real hardcore pc)
2. as i started the game, punkbuster told me that the operation system i am using is not correct....(strange)
then i stopped the testing about win8 and virtualbox - and i deinstalled win8, because i had a real bad os crash, which couln't be fixed. all lost... :)
btw: virualbox (Oracle) and VM-Ware, not the same. i am talking about virtualbox

you really can't play 3d games in a virtual machine.

Actually i have better solution - install XP from boot - on xp install Easy bcd and set it up and DONE! Took me 1 hour.
