Title: Public History
Post by: Spanky on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, 00:50:05 AM
Blue and me have been going over the current Assist Authorization Admin Control Panel, reworking it and making it better to accomplish tasks. I had an interesting thought earlier today though, I'm thinking of making the search function of it public. Basically, it would kind of be like AA Account History but... different. Here's some examples of the current layout and a bit of what it offers:

You can type in whatever you want. IP's, usernames, HWID's, even parts of kick errors. You CAN use it to cross-reference people's accounts by finding a user's HWID and searching for it. I'm kind of wondering if it would be good to make this part of the Assist Admin CP available to the public.

if its going to be public, make it use a cached copy of logs files :)

That's kinda more code than what I'm willing to do to be honest. Any reason for this aside from server performance? I can sanitize all the inputs before releasing. Plus, the public script won't write any data, it will just be reading data. I don't think anything malicious could be done

I think something like this should be public. A lot of people still use the old AA background checking sites that are still up anyways so if this is made public its an updated version therefore providing more useful info.

if anything malicious can be done, then it's not needed :)

HWID would be good as we get so many smurphs being wankers and this is one way to know who is who.
Also I don't remember but I dont think Admin Bans HWID just IP/User/Mac ect as before which can easily be gotten around.

He was banned before and the tried to evade the ban by making a new account, new computer, etc. So that account was also banned.

Been back for a few days now. Even hosts sometimes have problems.
