It has no real place in 2.5. It would be cool if they worked even half decently but that's not the case.

Fists are about as advanced as the shotgun. You "punch" out bullets that damage the other player. You can punch across the map. There would need to be a bullet drop effect added or instead, use grenade explosion radius to have close combat. It'll give a new meaning to fragmented.

would give the guys without ammo the possibility to survive, means knockin out
a guy almost out of ammo, taking his gun and go forward :D :D
I think this would attract a lot of new players also.

I'd say, give it a try, because as a matter of fact this is still very realistic. But it's a big change, so don't change it if only 50 people vote ... perhaps block access to assist for people who haven't voted ...

This would be nice if the radius were fixed, unlimited ammo applied (perhaps frequency of hitting tied to health/stamina meter) and ability to have fists + 2 weapons instead of this being a weapon of it's own.

Don't really agree on this one. In my opinion you shouldn't be able to use fists with 2 weapons, it's up to you to have at least one of them reloaded. Players should always have fists (sounds strange lol) but could only use them if they have 1 gun ... my 2 cents
And what would be the power of it? Because the radius of a nade is pretty large. You can't just run on bridge (crossing) for example, through smoke and randomly using the fist option in any direction ...

I think fists would be kinda cool if they actually worked properly. Instead, it's just like the shotgun mod, a novelty that isn't realistic at all. As awesome as punching bullets at people sounds, it doesn't belong in AA.

I saw you talking about nade radius' but not about how you're actually going to do it. Even if the bullets don't go far, it's still punching out bullets.

Waste of time, and hope this "feature" never makes it out.
If it does, it better be on mod only/ non official, or extremely limited and realistic.

Yup, make it very limited, like one punch ever minute or something like that, and damage doesn't has to be high. In fact I was more thinking of the following effect: You punch the enemy, he loses a bit of life, but he is kinda knocked out so he can not shoot for like 3 seconds ... You know, so you have time to reload your gun ;)
About the poll result, if there isn't a clear advantage for the 'we want them' it should just be an option in modded server, or shouldnn't exist at all if you don't have time for it ;)

This is just a discussion. I don't know if it's possible and I wouldn't know how to go about it. Being that ELiZ ported the SAI and added features, we could implement this in ANY way we wanted. It could have a half-stun effect on the other player, it could remove 10% health, it could have a radius. Who knows. That's the whole point of this discussion.

Wow, thats pretty cool, nice job on the fists, love the 'Bring it' emote, Well done in actually getting a new idea into the gameplay of americas army, Looks pretty strange seeing something we are not all used to i suppose, and can see why some people think its a bad idea, but to be fair, its not THAT big a change, its not a function everyone would be obliged to use, take the smoke grenade for example, Loads of people use it, Tactical movement, stopping people from hearing, or even a decoy, people use it well, Some people have played AA for years, and never even thought about throwing a smoke, Its not essential, but some people like it, i see this as being similar to that, you dont HAVE to use it, but would love to see if it can be fully functional and can be incorperated into the live game, If this can be done, and done to the high standard of the original AA code (lol), Then it could be the start in creating our own 'Perfect' game, You gotta think outside the box sometimes, Everyone is gonna have the opinion on this addition, i say why the fuck not, :)

ForgottenOne, maybe lay off the drugs. This WAS in AA, in the first couple of versions. The video is simply gameplay from AA1. The point of the thread is to discuss whether or not people would like this feature, what ideas/suggestions they have for making it realistic and if the code can be ported to 2.5.

A stun effect along with a radius damage...i don't get why there are so many against the idea, i would love to have a chance to go for a stealth approach. The only thing is that AA animations feel a bit stiff or slow for this kind of punching action, but i'd still like to try it.

It was posted yesterday, what did you expect? And honestly, i like to read about the opinions and suggestions more than looking at the poll results.
I was also going to ask Spanky about knives but i think there was an old discussion about them already...have to do a lil research.

If you going to allow fistfight you need to put back MOD again. That is same. No one was in aa2.5. Dont you have enough problems with the current version of AA2? Why are you not fix all the bugs and glitch in the game instead of looking at a bunch of nonsense. Put back MOD with honor but change how they are show in assist. 1 list with MOD and 1 list without MOD.

It was part of at least 2 AA versions when AA first came out. The devs coded everything you see in the video. It was removed most likely because it was not realistic enough (fists shooting bullets). The whole point of this discussion is to see if it could be re-implemented but more realistically.

Enough problems with the current version? Do elaborate, but in another thread. I'm the wrong one to be complaining to, I don't do UScript. I'd bet that Possessed has fixed as many bugs as he can or knows how to which you should be grateful for considering that it's harder to cheat and glitch in 2.5 than it ever has been.
