Title: Fair game
Post by: Vanoke on Sunday, December 29, 2013, 14:19:41 PM
To get a fair contest, there should ping gradations for servers
border for players below 40 ping
border for players above 40 ping
You may not go in a high ping if you have a lower ping .
but you may go in a lower  ping if you have higher ping.

you can start whit server hospital becose ther are a lot players whit high and low ping for a test!!!

If we work to that system i think players enjoy the game more!!

Wont work, stupid idea. Alot of the players i have known over the years are from NA and iam european. So basically implementing this idea means i may not be able to play with them. Plus if there is 1 server up for a map that i enjoy but its on a server where my ping is "over 40" i cant play it and probably alot of others cant. Ping is an issue for competition not for pubbing. Segregating a already small community is never a good idea.

I agree with bendawich

The ping is just your connection (response time) and it is naturally lower if you play abroad like Brasil or the States.
Its your own struggle to compete with a low ping  and it doesnt effect the other players - dont think it slows the game down in general.

correct me if i am wrong

Everything I've read from reliable sources suggests your right.

And I do agree with benda as well, but didn't wanna post at first, just to agree with my old clanmate :D

Another player's ping doesn't really affect you while you're just playing, however somebody who is really experienced with playing with a higher ping than the others can get a little adventage from it. All about hitboxes not being in the same place at the same time as it looks for the other players, but that's complicated stuff though.

I'll just leave this here since I've seen so much misinformation about it lately;

That thread gives us mostly what we already know IMHO.

The "real" ping is the one you see, but to compare your ping with others', you're better off dividing what you see by 4 (you might as well multiply others' pings by 4, doesn't matter).

The thing is, though, when I have internet troubles, my ping is way more than 250 (which is the max AA shows) and then when looking at my own ping it counts from 1 to 250 and back. But others still see my ping of 110 for example.

But this topic was more to do with whether or not an other player with higher ping makes the server lag or not.
While there was a little talk about it in the thread you linked, kicking the "high-pinged" players making the server seemingly less laggy, might just have to do with less players -> less server load.
