Title: ESL Test Cup
Post by: deniiz on Friday, January 25, 2013, 11:28:38 AM
Hello AAO comm.

As i said i'm trying to get the AAO game back to the ESL for e compative league system.

I had some contacts with Admins form ESL, and they are in the deciding moments. Today i had an e-mail from an ESL Admin on the ESL page, i was checking it up.

The info there was, that they are going to Make a Test Cup, too see How many teams/players are able or avaiable, and they will decide afterwards.

So if the Cup is announced, please guys! SIGN UP AND LETS ROCK! :)

*edit*: Im trying to get the Cup moved into a tournament like you can remember from the ESL EMS Groupstage, so you can play 1 match each week, so every team finds a Time/date which fits.

Otherwhise in a Cup ( which is probably on Sunday ), there are not all teams who are able to play i guess :)

Regards,

deniiz

if someone make a good post about, with links and enough info I can post a News in the site and then put it on Assist client news(wich you see the Urban slots thing) but the space there is limited, thats why we should first have a news posted at the site.

Hello Everybody!

Ok i got good news for the AAO Section.

Today i recieved the Final Mail with the decision, that the Test Cup well be outplayed soon!

I'm talking with them now about the Mappool and Rules etc.

I have a question to you, what do you guys think about a Matchsystem which is played in MR15 mode, like every other ego shooter?

Its like 30 Rounds Urban Assault, 15 per side, the match takes longer then, but i guess its better, and it can be more intresting.

If you disslike it we can play like we've played now the MR6 system. But i guess Mr15 would be cool :)

Otherwhise i guess we're going to play like we've played in the EMS Groupstage phase, like every Team will vote a map out and finaly you can choose one, and the last one is the OT Map.

I guess Mappool will be:

Collapsed Tunnel
Sf Sandstorm
Dusk ( maybe ESL Dusk if we can get it back, would be great! )
Mout McKenna
Pipeline
Insurgent Camp
Urban Assault

if you can't remember, its like this: http://www.esl.eu/eu/ems/season6/aao/groupstage/match/18350713/

What do you guys think?
Title: Re: ESL Test Cup
Post by: Azerty on Saturday, January 26, 2013, 07:12:58 AM
would be nice ..

I prefer MR6 ( my opinion ) MR15 is ab it too long, no?

don't forget Weapon cache...

otherwise good job

maybe MR15 is too long, but mr6 is too short, i guess :D 1 team can have a bad start like 2 rounds, and the map is already won by the opponent you know

Maybe mr 8 is good?Cus MR15 and with 3 mins round and also if u include discard rounds and mission plannings 1 map takes like 1.30 hours or more even...
Title: Re: ESL Test Cup
Post by: Goncalo on Saturday, January 26, 2013, 07:34:42 AM
yea mr8 would be perfect. just add weapons cache to that maplist and its fine
Title: Re: ESL Test Cup
Post by: deniiz on Saturday, January 26, 2013, 07:47:47 AM
Collapsed Tunnel
Sf Sandstorm
Dusk ( maybe ESL Dusk if we can get it back, would be great! )
Mout McKenna
Pipeline
Insurgent Camp
Urban Assault
Weapons Cache

so one more map is needed to keep the eliminate thing keep working
Title: Re: ESL Test Cup
Post by: marten77 on Saturday, January 26, 2013, 08:07:05 AM
Maybe we should take a long rage map in like Bridge Crossing or even Farm Raid ( god I love this map) . Or what about SF CSAR? They were all nice competitive maps back then
Title: Re: ESL Test Cup
Post by: deniiz on Saturday, January 26, 2013, 08:11:12 AM
I was talking to some PPL and we decide that the mappool will be:

Collapsed Tunnel    3min

ESL Dusk      3min

Insurgent Camp      3min

Mout McKenna      3min

Urban Assault      3min

Pipeline      4min

SF SandStorm      3min

SF CSAR         4min

Weapons Cache      4min
Title: Re: ESL Test Cup
Post by: amthje on Saturday, January 26, 2013, 08:20:06 AM
nah, i wud prefer mr10. cause mr8 sounds shit and looks shit ;) it's also the best option to the mr 6 or mr15 decision.

nevertheless, if u put long range into the mappool, the match will take much longer.
so i wud prefer sf csar or remove one from the current list

You are close to ESL now and you are making it for yourself. Where are open maps? Where is the rest of the maps?

This game is not only UA, IC, MCK, WC, CT.

I dont make it for myself, this is just a test cup, you cant go in with 30 maps, there must be a system, if we're back in esl, we can still choose how we want to play ;) this is a CUP

chil out guys, we can still organize a competition on aascrim.eu with a diferent maplist. i think its better for aa like this. esl system always been like these, fast maps, short maptimes. on other hand we can have a better project on aa scrim wtih diferent maplist, more LR maps etc.
Title: Re: ESL Test Cup

Its just about this cup to let them see how Active we are, afterwards if we are back in ESL we still can mAke the ladder with every map ;) comeon guys.. I try my best and you start whining already

im sure not everybody wud play this ;)

if we want to play esl, play fast and dynamic
ppl will get bored if they see how ppl are proning 5mins. no offense tidi but putting those maps into esl is not appropriate. like gonca said put them into aascrim

Its what I said. You made this for yourself only.

In your vision AA won't be too long on ESL again, believe me. But it's your way, do whatever you want. You are just dividing the scene.

We brought this game back to life. I've (yes, I can say that) brought competitions back. You didn't play for longer time, you heared about competitions, you came back to play Winter League. And what now? You are going to ESL to play CQB maps only. It's weird, it's typical sabotage.

In your mind, it's- "fuck them, they likes to play open maps? hahaha, go to your aascrim to play that, I dont care, I have esl and i wont play shit maps again".

This game came back to life. And you are killing it again.

OK, this will be only Test Cup, but I hope in future ESL will be a place for all players.

You are really optimist. But leave your hope behind. If you want to play matches, be ready from 5 maps only.

I'm out of this topic. Don't count on my help.

Panem et circenses.
Title: Re: ESL Test Cup
Post by: Shibby on Saturday, January 26, 2013, 09:30:54 AM
We can make competition with 5-7 dynamic maps for 10 teams on ESL and another competitions with another maps for 5 teams on AA Scrim.

However we can make competition with 5-7 dynamic maps (66%) and another maps (33%) for 15 teams on one site.

OK, this will be only Test Cup, but I hope in future ESL will be a place for all players.

cmon ur not helping with ur coments..last time AA was really alive and kicking it was the time when we got this map list on ESL. ppl from open and main skill level need to focus on some maps so they start learning and getting intrested in this game. lr and boring maps wont help at all. but they will still be played. its much more health for aa to have 2 competitions, 2 organisations,2 groups of ppl thinking diferent way. ESL and aascrim can offer both things to game. esl(fast game play maps) and aascrim lr and slow maps. 2 diferent styles of playing
Title: Re: ESL Test Cup

maybe u r right tidi, and im dividing the community with saying play fast and dynamic maps, but if there wud not be such competitions we wudnt been here again.

so i guess u know how this will be. if we play those maps we played on ems and invite leagues competitive player will be satisfied. if u put lr and other weird stuff in it u will satisfy the pubbers and open players.
its like it always is, black or white, u know what i mean. u will never satisfy everyone

On ESL PL we had competition with several dozens of clans divided into 3-4 leagues (for example: http://www.esl.eu/pl/aao/news/49290/). Administrators did not limit the mappool. Most of the matches were played on the most popular maps, but not only, and everyone was happy. It functioned for 8 seasons!

Sure that can work too, I remember in times of CAL, playing matches on hq raid, farm, montain ambush, and it was ok. we will see how it goes, this is just a cup, ppl are raging for nothing. we cant make 20 maps on a simple cup just to see how many teams will be active.

The reason there where 28 teams was because there werent other choices for them if they wanted to play.
Cutting maps has been proven in the past and in other competitive games to be better for competition, this is based on experience. Look at CS for example, look at the esports websites and you'll see.

I get the point that people want LR too, and that the first maplist was unequal.
But for a fact, you can say these maps aren't being played much nowadays (public wise, and matchwise compared to other maps), no matter for what reason.
So on one hand you get yours, on the other, any new players/teams will be lost at hq/swap/woodland/ma/  w/e.

And it's not just new players I played since somewhere in 03 to end of 06, I knew and played these maps on pub and in competition, I ( and by saying I , I mean me and 8 more friends from back then who came back playing ) don't remember squat about these maps anymore, wish I did, and I don't mind learning them again except I have no way to do so really.
Anyways new maplist is fixed, not trying to change it, but there was a good point about the first list being short and simple for the first cup , as they said, it was only for the first cup.
Title: Re: ESL Test Cup
Post by: rxcapitan on Sunday, January 27, 2013, 08:34:29 AM
my point was: put in first cup all maps so ur sure all teams ll join.than once we r back in esl u can cut the maps.but u ll lose some teams.situation in cs and now in aao is diffirent they had 300 teams we have 28 i think that we cant afford lose any.

and bridge is good map for competition...without tactice and practise u cant win...no graphic tweaks wont help u like on other lr maps....

maybe tip for next update:make sure all players see same far...put away that if u look side u see further...some players can see that far withot looking side

you can play your BC and stuff when the GAME is back, but to bring the game back, we should play like it is most attractive, and sry, if they see 4 ppls proning on a hill, behind the wood watching a bridge, isn't really attraktive ;)

you can do my job if you want i don't care i just want to bring this game back to esl to play compative, so i can't listen to every wish i'm sry,

before ESL shut aao down ( btw AAO wasn't deleted of inactivity, it was deleted because U.S. Army shut it down ;) )

there were only UA MMK CT IC ESLDUSK PIPE and SF SS and nobody had a problem with it, and now a player like you which i doesn't even know is flaming the whole time about the mappool, dude, ITS JUST FOR BRINGING IT BACK, NOT FOR THE LADDER SYSTEM AFTERWARDS!!! get this

you didn't even read did you?

The esl admin already gave the reasoning for this. I already gave a reasoning for this, you will never win this argument because it is evidently proven by other games and in the AA past that a big mappool for 1 cup does not work as well as a cup with a few maps, you can make different cups with different maplists but the other format just is NOT the most attractive one and will NOT be it for ESL because that is not the way they do their leagues.

tidi already proved for me that his maplist is good he has 28 teams in his league

u cant compare aao with 28 teams and 15$ donators to cs with 300teams and 100000$ sponsors.

if u tell to esl admins that more maps means more teams im sure they ll not have problem with it

but w/e guys do what u think is best i hope u ll succed.

See, you didnt read what I said, read back why it has 28 teams (exactly, no other leagues to join, people wanted a  league, this is their only option, so they have to play there even if they do not like the full maplist).

And I won't compare the numbers, but how big are the odds that they have never tried the format with more maps which gave them the conclusion less maps in a league is better.
Do you really think they came up with this format and never even thought about changing it or trying other things in all those years their community developped?

And this is not only the case in that game, but in many other games as well.

I do beleive you like the big maplist though ;)

Really? When I was AA admin in ESL PL none of Master ESL admins cared about maplist. The most important was number of active teams, because probably some of them want to play in ESL Amateur Series and ESL Pro Series and will buy Premium Accounts.

if they see 4 ppls proning on a hill, behind the wood watching a bridge, isn't really attraktive ;)
Who is "they"? Who will be watching matches in this Test Cup? ESL admins? Will there be videocasts?

its not true many of teams would not join if there were not their maps...........best way how to find out is make a poll

And I won't compare the numbers, but how big are the odds that they have never tried the format with more maps which gave them the conclusion less maps in a league is better.

i was talking for THIS opening cup....it was idea HOW to get most teams.....and NO things which works in cs wont work in aao
if u play game for money u just learn any map admins say
if u play for fun u wont
.....well u ll see

I do beleive you like the big maplist though ;)
i dont like it...im talking for teams which r picking sf pcr and sf oasis agaisnt us and losing on mmk 12-0 than

if this what u going to do ll be succesfull ill be only  happy ....no need to argue with me just think about what i say and do what ever u think is best

Thats the point. There must be a small number of maps, which all players know. you cant say whos better if there are 30 maps, cuz its just to much! if you have 5 maps, all playing, you will see which team is the best and thats it! and wow! u seriously talk about WL? 28 Teams, around 15-20 teams inactive. dont make me laugh xD

just join this shit cup, if we have AAO back on ESL we can make different cups and ladders with all maps in the mappool. just give it a chance, join up and let us be succesfull. Mappool and other stuff can be added any day when the game is back and we have some admins.

if you have 5 maps, all playing, you will see which team is the best and thats it!
Ok, but if it will be only 5 CQB maps (probably UA, McK, IC, Dusk and Pipeline/SS/CT) we will see which team is the best on this 5 CQB maps.

Maybe 2 CQB, 2 LR and 1 SF map? It's also only five maps and everybody can easily learn them all. However I think that the best clans know all maps, not only 5 CQB maps.

It is easy to be an decision-maker and choose maps according to your own preferences.

ESL probably are not really interested in this game anyway, it will just be added to there free games list,

Give a better product to us. To Majestic, to Exit, to Mortiferus, to the other. Then you will get more teams.

Tidi what's going on @ WL is not your fault nor because you had little help, it just looks like people aren't active as they wish they would be (including my team and myself - sorry for that , feels like we damaged the league by being inactive - not alone in that though , any other time i'd do more myself to help run that system but I simply can't).

Anyways I don't think there's lac of appreciation for WL by going to ESL, it's human nature to have big eyes and wanting more when we can't finish our first plate.

Nevertheless, I'll try registering my team to ESL Cup  since it's only one day (right?) and play it, so this game will have an easy option for competitive gaming @ esl.
I can understand why you and other teams don't want to join, but I can't see how it could do much wrong for you guys if you DID register. overall, it looks like you're going through allot of effort to move things in here, and trying to do good. - this is just another way to do so, only it takes much less effort and time for you guys

Please reconsider.

A compromise is needed now, not in the future. Without a compromise now maybe there won't be the future on ESL.

you really must be retarded..

the admins ( with steve ( old kiiz aka limited.e ) have choosen this maplist.. but okay :) your too dumb i guess

ofc a compromise is needed now, and maybe the maps SHOULD be changed, yet, not joining because of these temp maps for the temp cup is not making any more sense than changing the map list ( that's right, I think not joining makes less sense ).

imho it's silly either way, so who want's to be the silly one this time?

It's quite simple, if you want to move on and get more popularity OUTSIDE the current community we have we will need ESL. This is because there are a lot of gamers on the ESL and they might want to try other games also once in a while. Nobody will ever hear of this game unless its mouth to mouth. Unless we're in ESL.

So tell me, do you want the game to join ESL to at least give it a chance, or do you just want it to fade out again?

Whats is the main concern with joining a test cup to see the activity? the maplist? I also like the mixed maplist more, I really prefer that one and I will still talk with some people to try having it changed. After AA gets accepted I will also make work of the maplist so it will include the maps in future leagues. But please don't give it up already. Also the fact that ESL Wire runs on the nbackground is a pre imo, because some players are getting paranoid and think some others are cheating, this will remove some doubt (or this will remove some cheaters:P )

I have experience as a former ESL.PL admin.

We had small mappool only in competitions with money prizes (like ESL Pro Series). When we wanted to make competition with large number of teams, mappool was big with all types of maps. It's easy - tell that to "steve ( old kiiz aka limited.e )".

On a semi-diff matter.
The cup is really one day? 4 games at most?-1/8- quarter  - semi - final ?
If so, is it at the end of sign up date - 17.2? any idea at what time?

this is some kind of provocation dear :), but well done!

!! WEAK UP ALL AA2 PLAYERS !!

to join ESL will be the best promotion since a long time. other players from all over Europe can see then, that aa2 is still alive! and it would be great to put one feet into this tournament - and to do so isn't that hard like we all do now, right?
after aa2 is being accepted again at ESL, we can choose almost all the maps we would like to. so just give a little bit of your time to play the TEST tournament. let them see, that we are ready for further growing on aa2!

we will join for sure as a promise with our clan. and i will try to motivate some german clans to (we are playing a tournament at german's e-leage). i guess i can take one or two of them to join.

but what i miss - and others maybe too - can some one please post in here:
- when is the deadline for registration
- when does the test tournament starts (date and time)
- and when does it ends
- which map are played
- which mode is choosen (i do not understand that M9 or so). and can you explain it please
- how many matches has to be done by every clan at least
- thank you!

btw: if someone would like to join, but he's without a clan, tell me. i could make a 2nd or 3rd group with our clan tag, if you like and if this would be a reason for joining ESL then.

both teams pick a map from the maplist. They didnt work the rules that good yet, cuz this was a cup to see if the game is active. im sure they will work on it later, since we got 25 teams

you can't find any rule about map system, so i would prefer we stay with elimination, no matter what they say.
cause if you go for picking the map, teams are able to pick the same map over and over, AND are able to pick urban to play it in an overtime again. lol

whatever the first team already picked urban :)

another question :D (no, i am not jokeing)

Team A wins 1st  map
Team B wins 2nd map

for a elimination cup, this would mean for score 1:1

and now, is there a overtime with another map.
if so, which one to play? who will make the dicision about? and is it to play just after the 2 maps played (would be midnight then) ?

or is it like:

Team A wins 1st map  13:5
Team B wins 2nd map  10:8

Team A wins 23:13 ?

thank you for helping me out there :)

Go to the screenshot map in AA, open the desired screenshots, save as .jpg in some folder( I made a seperate ESL folder for this), upload them.

Hello Community

Since deniiz is not that active lately i will try to make sure to keep the conversation with ESL up. BiG_SerGiO i will surely let the admins know about you, since you do all the stuff for the game i think its nessecary to have you in the admin team. ESL Wire is not working yet, im sure they will fix all those things later when AA gets an own section. I need to talk with the ESL Admins first to know whats going on in the next days/weeks. I'll let you guys know as soon as possible what they were saying.

regards
