AA2.5 PUGS

We should somehow bring back the old irc pugs and implement them with AAO25.

There aren't enough people using IRC. Now you have MSN, Xfire, TS from others clans, all those others things. Do you still have difficulty to arrange a pug/scrim?

Sergio I think what kicker is saying is it's alot easier and more fun for people if they can just hop in a Pick up game. Its not just a public server its a competitive match. The point is not that it's difficult to setup a pug. The point is to get more people involved in the pug.

ease of access = more people! The pug is a great way to play match-style games quickly and easily.

It would be very cool if implemented into assist.

Do you mean the Assist integrated chat? Jonny said it was taken out because it was being abused (cursing, insulting and such).

Listen, back in the day the AA Pug was a way for players to come together (not necessarily knowing each other) could get together and play a match style game. Its basically a way to set up a 4v4 scrim whenever you want. This used to be very big in AA.

This is exactly what im talking about but instead of using IRC you could use a web based coded program on the AAO25 site or actually implementing it in Assist it self. I know that would be a lot of work for someone to code or make or whatever youre gunna have to do to make something like that. If something like this could be made or produce it would attract a lot of old players and possibly new ones as well.

To be realistic, you will also need volunteers to moderate the irc chat. Seeing as people behave in game, you don't want a totally unmoderated free-to-speech dedicated channel for the average player.

You're still missing the point... I dont want to use IRC... read my posts.

I don't understand any of this but what's so bad about using the shoutbox or creating a forum thread or using MSN, X-Fire, Steam, AIM, YIM, GTalk, etc?

It would be a lot easier talking about this than typing it all out. I explained to Max my ideas over ts and he thought it was a great idea and I asked eKC0mm if it was possible to code something web based how the way the IRC PUGs were set up.

Any IM tool is a 1to1 or a 1 to few friends channel, theorically having a public channel would let more people talk to each other and maybe would make for keep people in touch while using the Assist. Yet the amount of people is not high enough to expect a lot of players coming in for chatting, maybe a few more than the ones that visit these forums.

Easier talking than typing but you want a text-based chat? TS3 is a good example that I forgot in my last post.

Anyway, I'll leave this to those that understand what pugs is.

Guys this has nothing to do with chatting.

PUG is an acronym for 'Pick Up Game'

Were suggesting a way to easily join a 4v4 pick up game built into assist

This is what a PUG is spanky.

What I'm trying to say is that if you (spanky) or someone with assist could implement this into Assist somehow without IRC.
