AA 2.5 Crashes

I got two friends both got same problem. Their game crashes. Screen just freezes and then the computer restarts itself.
Both guys got:
Radeon HD 4870
Windows 7

So the problem is of course the graphic card. I'm not sure how the game is coded but there might me some sort of leaks so it overheats their cards. Both guys don't have any problems with other games or even AA 2.8.5.

So can they fix the problem anyhow?

I doubt it is the GPU itself as this is the first I've heard of the problem and the 4870 is a pretty common GPU. I would make sure their drivers are up to date. Also, tell them to use a program like MSI afterburner to monitor the heat their GPU is producing to see if that is indeed the problem.

Could be GPU or CPU overheating, faulty RAM or failing hard drive.

First things I would do is update DirectX:
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=35
Then see if things work better. If not, update GPU drivers: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/auto_detect.aspx
Still bad? Go into the Assist folder and delete the ArmyOps.ini after closing Assist.

If things are still bad, come back and we can help test individual parts.

If you're hardcore, you can try to test the game in a different operating system like linux.

Grab GPU-Z and ATI-Tool from TechPowerUp. Load up GPU-Z, sensors tab, at the bottom, tell it to keep updating when not in focus. In ATI-Tool, click Scan For Artifacts. Let it run at least a half hour and see what happens. Let us know the temps.

I had ATItool running for 30mins and my GPU temp stayed at 74C and system was stabil. I am the friend with the problem  ;D

no overclocking. Intel core2duo CPU E8400 3GHz, 4GB DDR2 RAM.

74C is a bit high, but it should be safe. ATI Tool said no errors?

I'm not sure what the problem could be now... I guess try running Prime95 on blend overnight and see if it's still running in the morning.
