Title: A mass honor reset.
Post by: Dav3 on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, 15:08:42 PM
I think the majority of people have had at least more than one account at some point.

I know im not the only one who has had accounts with much higher honor in the past and since lost / cant find them. Ive for example had one in the high 80's, few 60's and who knows how many nub accs.

That being said honor shows absolutely nothing other than how much of your life you have wasted with that specific account.

Not to mention all the honor hacks back in the day. ( Sure some were caught but IIRC it was based on honor compared to date the account was created, if it was ridiculous it was flagged? ) - guaranteed many got by.

I think if they implement training they should also include a mass honor reset and have absolutely every account start fresh at that point. That way you will have much appreciation for your account.

It has also been a "rebirth" of aa2.5 since the auth system was taken down and brought back with assist.

Something to consider.

Maybe even implement some sort of icon to show what your past honor was before assist was brought back / w.e.

A lil A with the number or something ( perhaps lessen the butt hurt people )

So if it does absolutely nothing like you say (which is true) then why would we need a reset? What would that accomplish?

My basic point is its an ancient system. Yes, overall pointless but it would better reflect your game play to date. Seeing as AA was completely kicked aside and the brought back by 3rd party.

Since the game has basically been brought back if anything honor should reflect that.

The only people who care about honor, are the ones with more than 100. And I'm not even sure they do. I actually think it could be a good idea, but it's never gonna happen ..

I feel mixed about this. Admins here have spent a lot of time reclaiming honor for accounts.

I think it would be good to wipe (would have been good to start fresh when Jonny made Assist) but then I also feel that it's pointless and means nothing and the easiest thing to do is to let it be :)

There is literally no benefit in doing such a thing. All it would do is piss people off.

There literally is benefit in doing such a thing.
There is more value in a reset system than an ancient flawed system kicking around with 0 guarantee of authenticity. I suppose there never will be in the virtual world but there were many more flaws back then

It would bring more value to honor being a more current and valid and reflecting the game in its current state. But yes it would have been nice to have happened from the get go

You failed to list a single benefit.
"honor hackers not having high honor" is not a benefit because, like you said, it is meaningless when it comes to gameplay. Some people are proud of their high honor though, showing that they're veterans of the game. That's really all that  honor is. An honor reset isn't going to do anything positive for the game, it's just going to piss people off.

This is the best idea ever mentioned in regard of a clean rebirth of this game.

True it could be a nice rebirth, but why does the game needs a rebirth?
Resetting honor is like deleting someone's pension after a life of labour ..

as silly as it sounds, it does sound like a good idea. gives all the noobs a chance at weapon selection instead of always being stuck with a gun that no one else wanted

For many rather after a Thug life  ;)

I think that resetting the honor would be asinine. I have had my account for over 10 years and some of us earned every damn point without any hack or cheat of any kind and we are to get penalized? That makes absolutely no sense. All resetting honor is going to do in the end is make the veteran players loose the only real symbol of accomplishment they have to show for this game. Also if it only shows what a waste of life this game is, as you say, why are you even here?

You apparently didnt read about 50% of the thread.

Give you butt hurt "vets" some sort of symbol, maybe even showing ur old honor.

But of course people will cry, no one wants change.

This wouldn't be change, just a do nothing action that will only serve to piss veterans off. It has 0 real benefits to the game. It's a complete waste of time.

No I read the whole post along with everyone elses in the topic at which time I responded with what I thought about resetting honor. Butt hurts huh?  LOL I am averaging an hour and fifteen minutes a day and is a way to socialize with friends who I have met in this game and have a kinda outlet for daily stress.

Ignoring the stupidity of the idea, would it even be possible to do? Would battletracker need to do it?

Assist can do it. Same way the admins can set honor higher, just set it to 10 :) Pretty sure it's been done on a few illegitimate accounts as well.

I don't see the point of this idea. Maybe drawing a picture would help. If you want a fresh start, make a new account.

I've been around AA a while. I could have a high-honor account but I never stuck with 1 account and I never claimed my honor for Assist. You could play me in game and see that I have high honor but own me every round. Honor does not relate to skill, it only shows how much time you've pissed away in-game. If you want a good marker for skill, look at hours played and K/D ratio.

+1

Especially those with 110 honor maxed out.

That would eventually kill the game...

Like I mentioned 2 other times. you could always give these guys some sort of special symbol. Maybe one of a cookie. - ie like the donation, army, admin one. But something symbolizing you made it to __, pre rebirth.

well if you played alot=high honor, more experience, better player, some high honor players are shit, with all that i mean 1 account only, i didnt talked about skill..

You just said it, hours played still means nothing :D And K/D has become pure bullshit.
The way I check if someone is good is looking at kills/hour and look at his acitivity/popularity

I would wager that by looking at the amount of honor requests that quite a few players created a new account for Assist thus their hours played would be recent and relevant.

Well if you played also long range maps like I did, the kill/hour is not as high as someone that just play urban

That's why you have to look at activity/popularity.
If you don't have much, then you're a one/two mapper noob, and thus not good. If you have high popularity it means you play all maps, so your kills/hour should be average 23/24 I think

Just leave it as it is.
Title: Re: A mass honor reset.

Thats all your honor is, a symbol.
Weapon picks should be based only on score from previous round, not time spent on one account.

There are more reasons pro reset than not to. The only real reason not to is people put too much value into some virtual number, n would get all butt hurt.

If not an honor reset, the "power" of slot choice should be swiftly taken away so that the only thing honor represents is life wasted - on that one account.

Those who cry in fear of losing "what thy earned" just want to keep their high honor
for one simple reason : acknowledgement.
Some just need it to please their ego, others suck in real life but here they count,
they are -someone special-  :D

Furthermore all of you ALREADY MADE HONOR RESETS a million times, how ?
high honor twat always loooooved to make noob accounts and hear real noobs say :
"DAMN, YOU'RE GOOD !". It's not that bad is it ?  ;)

But i agree it's good to still have your high honor because with it you never have to
justify on rainy days or when you suck balls, it's just a bad day.

shake your foundation

Reset all honor? Why don't you format your computer, just for fun? Because, who needs backups and "documents"?

Why are we even discussing this?

O.o i am quite speechless. To me, "honour" points as a value don't really mean a lot by theirselves, even if i understand the appeal of having an higher number next to your name...still by your reactions it seems you care about it more than what it's really worth for. I've played games where the ingame level actually serves up to a purpose all around , and even there i think i've never seen so much debate over a number than isn't representative of your skill, but just something similar to a rank insignia.
