25 assist linux, problem report.
« on: Wednesday, September 18, 2013, 18:50:42 PM »
hello,
i recently downloaded the latest 25 assist for linux hoping that i could play it again after some months of being unable to after switching from windows to linux.

but i encounter following error message :
"Failed to verify vital components, Please check your internet connection and write permissions to the assist folder and retry"

following is an analysis of the problem :

- open          :  25assist
- downloads : 7za  + nconvert.7z
- creates      : eula.tos + settings.dat
- then the error pops up

1 : the 25 assist folder including the armyops folder is available for read and write, so it can never be the cause.
2 : the 7za program has the executable flag and can function freely.
3 : the program is free to connect to any ip address it wants.

here is the interresting part :

i monitored the connections 25 assist makes, and right before the error pops up 25 assist is connecting to the ip address from the sourceforge servers. (probably to download the game files). a second later the error message shows.

i also downloaded the source code for 25 assist but i can not identify the problem, mainly because i am very unfamiliar with the xojo IDE which loads the project.

side note :
operating system : ubuntu 12.04 precise 32 bit
kernel                  : linux 3.2.0-53-generic
