Merlin,
Are you part of the Squad Pre-Alpha testing?

SQUAD is definitely the new realistic type shooter. Think Americas Army 2 + Arma 3.
Check it out and if you are looking for a unit, check out http://taw.net (http://taw.net)

Squad is actually most similar to the Project Reality mod for Battlefield 2. It's made by the same people.

I seriously doubt that.

Premises look really good...enhancing teamwork over individuals, no chance of whoring for kdr score (its point based), good voip, a medic class that gets actually used...hmmm I might like this game.

It is definitely a very good game. I am hoping that many of the AA2 veterans will get the game and join us in game.
And if you are interested in a clan for SQUAD, check out http://taw.net (http://taw.net) .Email me at [email protected] with any questions or concerns.

Why not? Performance issues?
The funny thing is that since Squad came out, AAPG has even less players......I am hoping the AA devs will see that, finally wake up and redo AA the way it was before AAPG. Heck even AA3 would be better than AAPG......

Augustine, have you played aapg since the beginning in 2013? It was a quite different game, many things were done in a much more proper way despite the game lacking part of the content it has now. And I think many would happily agree to have less content but more polished rather than a few more maps or a few more features that aren't fully tested throughout (map wise it was the case of Intercept, which had plenty of spots where you can nearly get stuck into, or feature wise with the way securing now works...you can basically drag an incapacitated player, just by spamming the key and moving back).

And since you mentioned AA3, Airfield was another bad example of "more content no matter what" especially after they introduced AI, which was terrible.

Yea, I was in the PG beta.
Problem with Proving Grounds to me is simple. Instead of staying with the AA2 gameplay (even AA3 gameplay), the devs are trying to emulate CoD, GRP and other BF......I am also not talking about content, but about gameplay.....

Its true. And for that matter, it still is an interesting game but not necessarily a game that follows AA2 tradition. But do you remember the map rotation in the early days? The lack of any propaganda video and army trivia stuff?

The game isn't anything like CoD of BF...  Yeah it's a bit faster than AA2 but CoD or BF like? I don't see it.

Yea me neither. The 1st game where i felt the movement was the same than in AA2 when i put the controls to the same order than in AA2.

Anyways, ive been playing ARMA 3 and i like it also quite much. Still not sure what to do with this Squad. i was waiting it so much but still after the 1st opinions of my friends it wasnt that super good that we all expected.

Can i test it somewhere like a  demo version?

I had seen some Good opinions on steam about squad, payed for it 37 euro's but after playing the frist match I was a little disappointed about this game.

Someone played Insurgency?  I have also read some Good opinions about this game how is that game?

It was born as an half life 2 mod, I think the mod is still around if you wanna give it a try, in a rough way you could say it feels in between Counter Strike and America's Army. Its not an heavy game, resource wise.

AA2 or AAPG

There is also a different between this game so I want to be sure

There is no free trial for SQUAD. Also, I would recommend to give it a good try. 1 match is not enough. To fully experience SQUAD you need to be with a good squad, have a good squad leader and overall good communication.  All of my guys at TAW (taw.net) play with tactics, good comms and we do have military guys with us, so we are pretty well set as far as good squad leaders.

Regarding Insurgency, I was excited about the game and in the beginning it was tactical, steady and slow, but overtime the devs started to cater to CoD, AAPG and similar players and now it is more run and gun than tactical......

By the way, I still do believe than regardless of what the AA devs say, AAO25 should be on steam

True, but not for AAO25 ... The Assist should be on the Steam (or something like this) - and guys, start advertising this game / Assist.

The Assist could be on Steam under the programs software

Problem is, that no one from the devs is willing to go this way - I tried different methods to convince them, but they simply afraid to do it.
... and this - plus lack of ad - is killing this game. Not to mention that their effort for keeping it alive goes in vain.

We don't own the rights to America's Army. We're technically not allowed to modify or redistribute the game. I'm pretty sure we've been over this before.

you dont advertise the game itself. you advertise the assist software.
Difference.

but I really do hope the AA devs will see how SQUAD is beating Proving Grounds and will finally recognize that they need to go back to AA2.

You mean the top heads behind a government funded project would worry about that? :D Definitely not, even if they should. But unfortunately the path the project took shows what they have been up to, between AA3 and AAPG. Probably the game would benefit from a private studio takeover with US defense  financing (and id bet plenty would like the kind of budget and resources it comes with).

Actually, way back when, AA2 was under private devs management with funding from Army, but when Army realized the success the game had, they immediately took over.....

I don't have any illusion about them looking at the stats. And I really see Proving Grounds dying a slow death.
