DVD Burning Software for Windows?
« on: Friday, December 18, 2009, 17:26:01 PM »
Someone I know asked we what they could use to burn DVDs on Windows. But since I'm not a Windows user, I can't really tell them what is good. So I need some recommendations here. it doesn't have to be free, but I'm sure it's preferred.

Thanks!

I looked at the Sticky first, but all I saw were ISO burning programs, unless I missed something? I guess I should have been more specific, I need software that can burn files to a DVD, I don't think he needs to burn ISO's. More like backing up files, from what I understand.

Vista and 7 have that feature built-in just like XP had the ability to burn CD's. He can make an iso and then burn that... I dunno though, I've never had the need to burn DVD's on XP.

Windows Media Player can burn files to a DVD? And I'm not talking about videos here, I'm talking about files, as far as I know. The DVD doesn't need to be playable in a DVD player or anything.

Yeah, I'll post back if I hear anything. Might be awhile, though, last I heard he was grounded from the Internet.

No, IMGburn. You need nothing else.

Well then it comes down to which is more simple. IMGburn? or CDBurnerXP?

For all I know I would trust IMGburn with simplicity. I trust that it's not developed by some big company looking for profits, as opposed to a program called CDBurnerXP, I kind of cringe when I see "XP" at the end.

As for the simplicity part, I like to call it the 3-Step:
Choose, the operation you want to perform
Browse, for files or folders
Burn, and your done

It is honestly that simple and it does include other much more advanced options, but many noobs are really not going to be looking at them if all they want to do is burn something to a disc.

I'd go with IMGburn if BlueBlaster likes it. I recommended the other because it was at the top of google and seeing IMGburn makes you think images only.
