I have a 8600GT in my computer as a secondary graphics card for more monitors. I typically run videos on my far right monitor which it just happens to be run by my 8600GT. Today I realized while playing a 1080p movie that the temperature was higher than normal. It then hit me that CoreAVC was using the 8600GT to render the video (makes sense since I was playing it on a monitor connected to the 8600GT). What surprised me was that while underclocked, the 8600GT can render 2 1080p videos without a problem. I have a hard time playing (if I can at all) a 1080p on my 1.6GHz dual core Intel laptop. This just goes to show the power of GPU computing.

Thats good to know I have a BFG (now defunct) 8600GT. How much memory does yours have? Mine has 512mb.

Thats pretty cool. Its too bad they started to market this stuff now.

Mine's a 256MB BFG. It's like the bottom requirement for CUDA but it's still this powerful when underclocked and running PCI-E 8x.
