Medal of Honor [2010] [47MB of Screenshots!]
« on: Friday, October 29, 2010, 15:11:09 PM »
I'll put some screenshots up in a bit but I just wanted to say a few things. I'm somewhat disappointed in the game. Medal of Honor Airborne gave me goosebumps and I was hoping that with a new engine, better graphics and a desire to live up to the name would easily out-pace MOHA, I'm not seeing that so far. Granted, I'm barely into it but these kinda games need to start with a bang. Pretty much it starts with stuff you've seen in YouTube trailers and then goes to an Afghanistan version of the battle on CoD6 that takes place in Columbia (with all the ghetto houses and whatnot). Then, the next "map" was, you guessed it, an airport junkyard. Again, just like CoD6. I'm not saying they copied it or did that on purpose but if I were a developer, I would be sure to stay far away from anything that's been done before. I really hope that the game picks up soon and has a long lasting single player campaign.

New Stuff:

Update - I am enjoying the game more. I'm noticing more and more that the animations are superb. I'm liking the gameplay and difficulty. The variety of weapons makes it interesting. Each weapon seems to have quite a noticeable difference in terms of accuracy which tells me they're more realistic. Instead of thinking "there's nothing that sets this game apart", now I'm thinking "I wish there was more of a deeper story". I did finally get goosebumps, when I hit this scene:

That whole cutscene lasts easily 3x as long and after the RPG hits, you're pretty much running for cover into a dry river bed with gunfire coming from all around.

Honestly nothing that deals with "modern" warfare is going to be new or fresh. The CoD series has pretty much killed that type of game for me.

It's actually an ok game. I don't feel the over-dramatization that CoD seems to have but I did think at one point "this is just like every other shooter". We'll see, I'll get screenshots and a better opinion when I play some more.

*EDIT*
I forgot to mention that unlike CoD6, Medal of Honor plays very well with wide & weird resolutions such as those with triple-head.

Well the over stated-drama is kind of what made cod4 such a hit. Also the game play was awesome. But I mean the genre has been done to death. I want some thing INNOVATIVE! Nice to know game devs are starting to make thinks work on some thing other than single monitor set-ups though.

I think Medal of Honor is innovative as far as being an authentic recreation whereas CoD is just fantasy. I still have hope that it will pick up and the story will improve.

A lot of the graphics only seem to look good at far away.

Yea, it's not that great in the graphics department but it is good with FPS.

I was in the multiplayer beta at various stages including closed beta, from closed beta 1 to 2 it barely changed. In this stage of the game it sucked balls. It was horrible. When it went in to open beta it still was pretty shit but I had some fun. I would definately not pay money to play it.

This. The multiplayer is so bland and uncreative. They just took a bunch of different stuff from other games and threw it into a mess of a multiplayer. You know it is bad when you feel like you have already played the game before on the first play.

Ha yeah. That is one thing with the CoD series is every game felt unique. Cod4/5 felt similar but defiantly where their own games. CoD6 was...well it was different :) But its been that way since vcod and uo. Hell even big red one on the ps2 was its own game. None of them are the same even though they are all similar. Its those similarity's that have made them so popular.
