What about an option to delete your own posts in shoutbox?
This will save your time, because sometimes I want to delete a post I made and I can't :)
Not because I want to delete something now but in future references.
Thanks :)

I don't think it's a good idea. Not for security but in case some arguing match happens, the shoutbox remains as proof of who said what.
-
but some 1 can says words in heat of moment and wasn't meant to be said, good to be able to delete your own chat
just saying

What kind of proof needed? If the player didn't mean to say something and regrets it he should be able to delete his own post. If you need proof and was meant on purpose etc swearing then the post would stay and would be up to u to delete it or not, should be a free choice at this point....

Think twice before writing in the shoutbox. Problem solved

this would not be easy to execute, deleting you own post in a shout box. guess then you could delete all of the messages....

Its easy to execute... Merlin whats wrong with that? So I can't delete my messages? Make it that you can delete your message but in each hour then if you got a problem.

no, I would be for it. as already did say, in the heat so many players would like to have a chance to delete a message, including me :)
this would be good.
but it should only be possible to delete it within the next 5 minutes. because other wouldn't have a big possibility to respond on that.

responding makes drama :D sometimes when u posted somethign bad and would like the person not see and regret for that tex able to delete, i dont understand why u spanky are so negative against this? seems to me a good idea...

As suggested, thinking it over once before hitting Submit/Shout would have the same effect.
Only because it's "The Internet", doesn't mean that you should post anything that comes though you mind unfiltered.
I see this as a minor issue.
You post it, you take the consequences.
But I'll let Spanky decide since he's the one that would have to put effort into to making it.

It wouldn't be hard to implement, probably a couple of minutes really. The thing is, if someone is being abusive and later deletes it to hide their actions, who does that help? Think twice before you submit (nobody seems to do this by looking at spelling mistakes).
Course, I could make it so users can "hide" their posts and if needed, we can go in the database and see them but that's more hassle than it's worth. Just think twice, be nice and enjoy it for what it is.

I also agree that this isn't really a thing we should be looking at.
A heated argument between 2 people would totally change if one of them deleted their shouts. Right now we can see clearly what happened and who called who whatever name. If you deleted your posts, we coudn't.
