Well, newer games always bring in interesting technologies, features that make for a deeper gameplay, better lighting, etc. It all comes at a cost. And anyway, Wickid also plays AAPG, which needs some decent hardware (mostly because of poor optimization tho). A peculiar example is the mission editor for that game, which comes in a basic and an advanced version...funny enough, the heaviest version is the basic one, because it's presented literally as a layer on top of the "advanced" one.

2 graphics cards... Well I guess if you have money to throw away :D

If you start playing current generation games at or above 2560x1440 you'll probably need a truly powerful card, even two to keep a decent frame rate on some games. With that said, aapg isn't really the case :D unless he plays at 4k.
I play that game on a 2011 Samsung laptop with an Intel 2630qm and an Nvidia 540m ._. @ 1024x768.

Well, then you're not in the urge of having to render 3D environments or models in as little time as possible I guess. Or are you? As far as I remember solidworks gets used a lot into technical environments, e.g. mechanical parts design I guess.
Ages ago I used to fiddle with Maya, its mostly made for communication oriented modeling/rendering.

Afaik the i7 processor is only useful if you're into some time of visual design thing, for gaming it's useless anyway. If you're going for a pure gaming rig i5 is a better option.

Not sure if i5, comes in 2011 socket, seen em in 1150 socket only

That's old pc right? Why else would u have 2011 socket. With 1051 socket u also get DDR4 memory. I'm gonna move to that once they release BF5 system requirements. Also going to upgrade my graphics card to at least nvidia 970 perhaps 980.

Nope just got mother board and processor back under warranty, 90% of stuff I got I didn't pay for, works good enough for what I use it for,
I'll update again in a year
