Title: Flank Gaming Network AAO Assist Ladder
Post by: razordenial on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, 23:18:46 PM
Right now it's a work in progress. The script is up and running, and players can join and create teams. At the moment, the ladder is set to 3v3 and it's in inactive status until the rules and map sets are created. Which comes down to why I am starting this post. I need a staff member or 3 to really get this thing off of the ground. I'm not limiting it to just AAO25, but it will be a core game. And I'm not looking at expanding outside of AA much (maybe an AAPG, mAAp-only, AA3 Maps Only) with maybe Hearthstone or a MOBA coming online.

So tell me, 4-6 maps that you think would be good competitive maps for a 3v3 Ladder; how many rounds should the ladder be; time length on the maps. Now GO!

Csar is kind of sad on 3 v 3, it's just some pilot-raping. SF Dockside is a good 3 v 3 map, 4 minutes.

i think thats all good maps for 3 vs 3.
i think only the time on 3 maps are not so good.
weaponscache - 5 mins
collapsed Tunnel - 3 mins
HQ Raid - 4 mins
Csar - 4 mins
Swamp Raid - 4 mins

and csar is good to play by by 3 vs 3 i think on csar you can play more tacktics... :-)

Although I think 4v4 is better on Pipeline and especially on Urban, these maps would be nice for 3v3 as well

Urban should be all banned from competition, forcing teams to scrim other maps. And I was unsure about the times, it's been so long I forgot about the times we use to have. There's a fine line in the timelimits tho, between having enough time to exectute a proper strategic push/defense and just having to fucking rush through everything because of not having enough time. And as for csar. Holding pilot with 3 people would be hectic, i'd love to play assault against 3 pilot campers.

Pipeline would be harder for assault, you can hold main pump with 2 people. The sound on Pipeline makes it possible to pinpoint any assault on any door/tunnel/vent long before the actual push takes place.

+1

Weapons Cache
McKenna
Collapsed Tunnel
HQ RAID
Sf Dockside

Also I agree with Kello, we need to think about the times, like on Weapon Cache because there is a defending team and a assault team with doing 2 objectives.

I think also that the upcomming maps are possible for 3vs3 ;
Insurgent Camp
Sf Extraction
Swamp raid

So what if we do the following for maps:

MOUT McKenna at 4 Minutes
Collapsed Tunnels at 4 minutes
HQ at 4 minutes
Swamp Raid at 4 minutes
SF Dockside at 4 minutes

Do these sound like decent maps to run on a 3v3?

These 3 men will be helping me manage the AAO 2.5 Ladder, as well as putting together a solid ground for future tournaments and leagues. Also, we are currently close to getting a new skin from IVGrafix.com. If anyone would like to donate to the cause, please let me know via PM.

Okay,

Maps have been created. I'm putting together a list of rules for the inaugural ladder. But before I do that, I want your input as to how you think the rules should look.

I think normal standard rules
12 rounds after 6 rounds swap side
1st person view,

just you know the standard rules ;)

Okay, the ladder is up and running. Rules have been added. Everything is good to go. Just waiting on the new skin to be completed, and we should be good to go.

Spencer @ IVGrafix does amazing work, he has made at least 4-5 sites for us so far and counting over the years.

First, you have to register on the site. Then go to http://www.flanknet.com/manager.php?action=create_team&ladderid=1 (http://www.flanknet.com/manager.php?action=create_team&ladderid=1) and create your team. Once the team is created, it should let you join the ladder under PC> AAO2.5 Assist 3v3

Merlin, I'm pretty sure it's a North American ladder, though.

At least in principle. I'm not sure how many teams there will be to sign up.
