Hey all,
I'm having a bit of a problem every so often when I'm in game.
After playing steadily for multiple rounds on any given map with no problems, my game suddenly minimizes itself and I get the following error message (that I am able to click "OK" to dismiss and return to my game with no problem):
"cmd.exe - Application Error
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application"
The trouble is two-fold.
1. It impedes game-play as it often minimizes my game as I am in mid-action, and;
2. The message continues to reappear every so often (about once every 15-20 minutes) which leads back to the first trouble.
Additionally, there doesn't seem to be a specific rhyme or reason (at least in game) that triggers the message's appearance. It happens across all maps and whether I'm in a firefight or simply sprinting across a map.
Any ideas on a fix, guys?

So.....what happens if you just leave assist open and no game?

I'm not sure - let me see if it appears while just having assist open and I'll let you know!

I'm thinking it's something outside the game and Assist. If it was a PB check then you would be kicked for lost queries or something. If it was something in Assist then you would get kicked for a closed slot. Does it only happen when the game is running?

Open an Elevated Command Prompt (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right click command prompt and click "Run as Admiistrator")
Type
sfc /scannow
That will repair any damaged windows files.
If that doesn't work let me know.

Shiiiieeet, I haven't seen that sfc command in a long while. That's like a Microsoft certified response.

if I remember you will need a Windows CD to restore any file, windows may trigger any file thats isn't the default one(since ur first install)so be prepared to re-install all service paks/updates.

Nope. You only needed the disk in Windows 2000 and XP (Maybe Vista but I never used it cause it SUCKED). But not in Windows 7
ALSO
When your done, again open an Elevated Command Prompt and type this is in:
findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt"
That command will place the sfcdetails.txt file on your desktop. Copy everything in it and post it here.
