try do download it directrly from here:
http://aao25.com/news-65/25assist-v7-20-is-released/

otherwise delete all of the old installation and try a new one.

Was there any solution to this problem?

I am getting the same message.

I've done the following:
1) service iptables stop (disables firewall)
2) double checked chmod values for the directory structure

Things to note:  I took the old installation I had from November last year and placed it on a new VPS (CentOS 65)

FYI: It would be great if the assist server had a debug flag to "assist" in debugging.
