I have my account set up and AA assist runs fine, but it says you need to download America's Army, which I do, but then there's either a runtime error or when the installation completes it doesn't register that it was installed / downloaded.
Where should I be saving my AA Asist folder? Right now I just extracted it to my downloads folder and ran the .exe from there. Does it matter where the folder sits?

Yeah I'm getting runtime errors when trying to download / install AA:
..\.\.\Common\runFolderitem.cpp: 1692
Failure condition: obj
(null)

You can check out the faq:
https://aao25.com/support/#faq
The first items tells you where the default download location is.
The second item tells you how to set custom locations.
The last two items might have something to do with your issue as well.

Thanks, I fixed it and downloaded the game correctly. However, I'm having trouble getting punkbuster to work (why you need terrible two-decade old anti-cheat in an old game is kinda beyond me lol if you told me punkbuster would still be around back in 2005 I would have killed myself)
I get into a server and it says PB restriction, heartbeats, and then the AA Assist client says to run as administrator and do fix PB. I do that, and punkbuster installs and everything works fine, but then the AA Assist client freezes and does not respond. When I reopen it and try and get into a game (assuming the PB fix / install worked correctly) I still get kicked again.
Thanks for your help teddy you're the man! Hoping to get some games in soon

Punkbuster is an ongoing issue that does not have a clear solution right now.

I've got these installation issues too when I yesterday redownloaded Assist after a long pause. Around 3 times I let Assist to redownload the files until I downloaded that old full Asssist packet and extracted the AA files. Then it just did couple of updates and worked.
To make it easy for people to start using Assist, I think the full installer should be a default option for downloading Assist. That way the community could grow. And remaking Tracker would be awesome, maybe Homey still has some backup?
Sorry if came to wrong place with suggestion. The main issue is the current installer, how it doesnt download all the files.
