Title: Fast switching weapons
Post by: raiton on Thursday, February 12, 2015, 17:26:02 PM
Hello,
I found out that it is allowed..ish. The reason to that it is actually hard to pull it off and it may not work when you really need it. But what if someone was doing the fast switch time and time again without fail? Even when walking or sprinting, as if it was actually the regular way to switch weapons? I find it hard to believe that someone actually mastered the bug to that extent and it just has to be some kind of a trick behind it.
So is that trick legal or not?
Cheers

What do you think? Is bypassing an in-game feature fair? How about bypassing that pesky reload or accuracy nonsense?

Um why do I get such furious response? I am asking because like I said I asked some people about it and they said that fast switching is allowed because of its nature. But I've seen 1 player that was using that like described (without failing even once) so I'm curious now if that is allowed as well.
And I don't want to throw accussations until I figure whether it is cheating or not.

Because the answer should be blatantly clear. It is an unintended advantage. If it was meant to be in there, it would be enabled for everybody by default. It is not a feature, it is not meant to be used. It is bypassing something in the game, it is no different than bypassing recoil or reloading or accuracy.

And yet Ganja openly admitted to doing that. I am confused :)

There's a lot of people that do it all the time. If I banned everyone that did, a lot of people would be pissed off at me. So I just stick to whining about it rather than actually doing something.

I admit to using fastswap, yes. I've never seen a rule that said you were not allowed to fast swap.
The point os, in your oiringal post you explain that you don't believe some people do it by pressing different keys at the same time. You think that some have a magic trick, which wouldn't be allowed if there was.

Key binding 1 key for a fastswap isn't allowed as far as I know. But I do it the normal way, like plenty of other players and i haven't failed it in a long time

There is no way to quick-swap with a single key. Assist doesn't allow it. It's not that difficult to pull it off though. I'd say I have about a 95% success rate with it.

Okay so I finally got some clarity :) Yes exactly I am suspecting a key bind or something because can you walk/sprint and do the fast switch one time after another in a quick succession without failing? I don't think so.
