Hi, old AA2.8.5 player here. I was playing here on 2.5 with you right after they stopped supporting AA2 but hadn't played in a while. Downloaded latest Assist recently on my new PC and they want me to do Basic Training all over again. ( I think that makes 3 times now) I'm using Windows 8
Anyway, there seems to be some glitch. I can't save the results from the Obstacle Course part to my jacket. It just won't show up as updated. I've read a few other threads here where people had similar problems and tried their fixes and waited etc....except for re-installing the game. Don't wanna do that unless I really have to.
Any ideas?
For you information:
PS on my old machine Windows 7 there was a glich for me at on the Obstacle Course too and I couldn't do the climb down the net part, no matter what I tried. The first time I tried it on this Win 8 pc the same thing happened but the sunsequent times that problem at least went away.
-
I haven't done it myself, but I hear the trick is to hit save, wait until the game tells you it can't. Hit save again and then exit the training and Assist should update it.
The in-game save doesn't work as it goes to the official auth, which doesn't exist anymore.
-
Yeah I've already tried that several times after reading that in another thread and it hasn't worked for me. And I've tried variations of that too.
..... I retaken that obstacle course so many times now that I should be the drill instructor!
-
That would be really good. I'm sick of trying to qualify when I am already qualified. I had 90 honor when AA pulled the plug on us.
I started trying to get back into the game last December when AAO25 sent out the newsletter and it has taken me this long. I started playing War Thunder in despair, coz I always liked flight sims......but it still does not get my adrenalin like a good firefight in AA2 does.
-
That's a drag. Looks like there is no way for me to play again then short of a miracle.
-
The only thing I can tell you is to try to reset+repair AA in the install tab and see if it fixes it. Not sure what else to do.
Petrol is a troll, and I'm not sure why you would respond with "that would be good." to a hack suggestion...
-
Well I just tried and had no problems saving the training.
Both the marksmanship and obstacle course saved on the first try (even though I've had difficulties saving at earlier times).
-
Well so far Petrol looks like the only one that can get me back into the game. Anyway I thought he was with you.
It looks like it may have something to do with the "Assist exe not responding" after trying to save the results. Just tried it again without a firewall and no AV.
Later I'll try repair and reinstall options. Cant do it now because I am in a stupid country with a stupid ISP with bandwdth limits.
-
I sorta of doubt that the reinstall will work because I have 2 PCs with the game on it and the same thing happens on both. But I'll give it a shot later.
-
It might have something to do with Windows 8. I know other people have had other kinds of problems with AA/Assist and windows 8.
If possible, maybe try it on a Windows 7 (or XP) installation?

If you have two PCs with 2 different installs and it happens on both then the odds are it's a network issue on your end. It sounds like something is blocking data from getting to the server.
Like teddy said, it could be Windows, or any other programs you have running. I'm pretty sure Assist works on Windows 8 though.
-
OK...The other PC has Win 7 running and this one is Win 8.
I'll kep fooling around with them both and maybe in time i'll get back on. I've been working on this since December you know. I gave up trying to finish the Obstacle course in the Win 7 PC. Just got this one recently and decidied to give it a go. All the rest of Basic I have been able to qualiy for. Its just the Obstacle course that has given me troubles.

Hi, old AA2.8.5 player here.
Not really related with the issue but could be a solution. Did you had a previously AAOtracker? If so, those created before 2012 don't need trainings done.
-
if you can not save the training results, just try this:
when done, press save, then wait until the error message appears. the press save again and exit.
this did work for me every time. just pressing once the save button did not work for me.
-
Yeah I was playing with Assist AAO25 in 2011.....and they restored my Honor for me too.....and I never had to re basic training , at least I don't remember doing it again. But regardless, I was playing and had no troubles before the recent changes here.
-
I tried that a whole bunch of times Merlin. I am about to fire the old PC up and update Assist and try to finish doing Basic Training there. Maybe it will work now. It's been a while since I tried it on that PC.
I'll keep everyone posted on the results on all this.
-
thanks and good luck

You were playing with Assist in 2011? If your battletracker account was made before 2012 then you shouldn't have to do training.

I checked. You restored my honor and I was playing Assist by January 15 or 16 2012. I didnt have to do re-basic then but seem to have now after the big updates you made. I've also done basic training for AA3 in the past.
I shouldn't have to redo it all again.
OK - I have resolved the main issues.
I got on the old pc with win 7 on it that used to hang up when doing the Obstacle Course on the part where you run along the beams and go down the scramble net. I could never get down the scramble net on the win 7 pc, so I never got to fininsh Basics.
So, I updated Assist to the new version on that PC (That took hours and hung up at one point) When finished I went back to training and was able to go down the net and finish the Obstacle Course and susequently save to jacket.
Then I logged out of Assist and closed and then fired up the new Win 8 PC ...opened up Assist there and saw that I had also finished basic training on my jacket there. So I am now able to join a server and play. So, I don't really know what the problem was caused by in the first place....but it all works now.
Do I still need to do the rest of the training in order to uses Special Forces weapons and Sniper? Or am I good to go? I would not be looking forward to going through that ridiculous AA2 Special Forces training again.
-
Yes, in order to play SF you will have to complete the SF training.
-
OK but that sucks since I already did it. Anyway just played my first real game in Hospital. Man...what a noob I have become! I have even forgot how to see my FPS. But at least I got my adrenalin fix.
-
Well, now it looks like I can't use my new win 8 pc to do any training on at all because it still won't save the results to Assist. I just tried to finish the jump school and it wont save results. The Win 7 pc will probably do it but it sucks so I probably wont bother with doing any more training.
Whatever is wrong is probably due to something about the new pc and I cant figure out what that is.
-
I forgot ...there was one last thing I was going to try. I just did a Repair to fix something else (that worked) so I will try to do some more Basic Training and see if I can save results now. Well after I finish playing some more Bridge. I'll let you know the results.
-
Nope...didn't work. I'll try a complete reinstall now.
-
good luck - but first be sure you do delete everything from the old installation.
-
Something is wrong with the download. Its downloading at 27 kb/s and then stopping altogether. Then says check internet connection but the connection is fine. I restart Assist and resume and then it downloads a little and stops again. Been at it for 8 hours now.
-
I turned off both AV and firewall and restarted Assist and resumed the download. Everything is downloading fine now at about 275 kb/s, so I turned the AV and firewall back on. Still downloading OK. A couple of days ago when I first installed Assist on this machine I was downloading at speeds 2 or 3 times faster.
Don't k now if I uninstalled AA2 before I began the reinstall. I clicked on "re-install" on the Assist gui figuring that Assiat would figure it out. Assist instructions said that it would delete all folder and files so I assume that means uninstall. So I clicked "OK" and then Assist deleted something.
Assist said it couldn't find the game on my machine when I clicked "Find". Kind of ambigous instructions from Assist. I couldn't find any files to direct it to either and neither could my uninstaller..
BTW.... I had the simalar slow speeds and problems with the DL when I updated Assist on the other machine yesterday. (But no problems at all several days ago on this machine)
-
Disabled AV and restarted Assist and resumed DL. Speeds OK again.
-
Just turned the AV back on to double check about wherether or not it was the problem and everything is going fine. So it wanst the AV or Firewall causing the problem. It seems random.

OK concerning the saving of basic training results to jacket. I am now able to to save them after the complete re-install (which was a real hassle and slow) The re-install seemd to have ben successful and am now able to save training results by taking the extra step of
1 Click Save Results and wait till nothing hapens and it times out
1 Click Save Results again wait a few seconds and push Escape on keybord and click Exit AA
At first it seemed that it didnt work when looking at Assist. I was about the exit and restart Assist to see if I was offered the option to save results to Assist but then the option box popped up by itself so I clicked save and my results were seen immediately. Before I reinstalled after trying to save the results, no tabs worked on Assist until I exited it and restarted it and then I could click on the Training tab and see if the resluts were saved and I was never offer the box to click OK to save to Asist.
So, it sems the problem has been resolved with a complete re-install.
However the problem of me having to redo all training though I am 90 honor has not been resolved.
-
I did it! Please guys dont ever make me do SF Escape and evade again. I'm back and fully operational. Thanks!
-
have fun and enjoy!
