Hopefully that's their Laptop/Tablet/Phone version and not the real version that real computer owners will use.

I had to Google it, I've never heard of it before. Pretty interesting, you can see Microsoft's train of thoughts.

BOB and this Windows 8 thing feel the same. They want to make people feel like they aren't using a computer.

When installing, they need to have options. Laptop/Tablet, home user, advanced user. So they can install this nifty interface on a tablet, and then install a dumbed down version for home user and then just improve the code base for us advanced users. Everybody wins.

Nice idea. I think something that needs to change is the registry. That things been around for too long and can be improved.

I found out more info about 8. So by default it runs that touch UI, but if you run a windows app, itll work in normal windows. Think of windows 95 or 3.1 back in the day. There were a lot of DOS apps, and the GUI was new. You could run DOS apps within the windows UI shell. Same idea with windows 8.

I hope they don't make it so restricted that you have no customization in it. I use that Rainmeter skin that looks like Windows Phone 7 but I can tweak it all I want and it also depends on other 3rd party programs. If they're smart, they will have a simple to use default setup with huge customizational power underneath (boy do I sound like a Linux user...).

On another note, I tried the last leaked version of Windows 8 and it didn't have the UI integrated, it was mostly code changes.

Metro UI is vastly different from Rainmeter since programs that communicate with Metro (programs that can show information on the 'tiles') need to be coded for it.

I guess we just need to play the waiting game. The chances something being implemented because we posted it is pretty low =\
