Be sure to get the 8.1 update from the store and do all Windows Updates, even optional ones (aside from language packs).

Then, hit windows key + R. Type in "control userpasswords2". In the box that comes up, uncheck the top box that says "Users must enter a....". Then hit Apply. In the box that comes up, type in the e-mail address she used to sign in (it shows it in the previous box) and type in the password twice. Hit OK on all open boxes, restart the computer.

This is the first thing I do for anyone running Windows 8, at least those that decided to put a password in in the first place. The next thing is to install Classic Shell.

Don't worry, the agony will soon be over once Windows 10 is released and everyone on 7 and 8 gets a free upgrade :)

Really? Something free from Microsoft?

And I don't think everyone on 7 will want to update. Not right away at least. Don't fix what aint broken.

I just tested win10 and there was no issue at all, Auth was responding, PB installed fine(As soon as I remembered to use "Run As Administrator" when starting the 25Assist Client.).

I used this Image:

I will try again at the weekend, but I guess I did all in the right way.

For whatever reason, maybe 64 bit operating system has a conflict.
