PlayStation 2 - Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
« on: Thursday, August 05, 2010, 16:38:45 PM »
Recently bought this guy. Camera batteries need a recharge so no pictures :P

Batteries recharge and just took pictures :D
The game box cover is holographic. Even the strategy guide is semi-holographic (or it's just really shiny and didn't take a closer look)!

[Typical17yo]But the graphics are so bad![/Typical17yo]

I've never played the series but unfortunately, good graphics make games better for me. Of course a story line and features and playability are great but there are some games that I've tried to play but they just get boring. Everything has to come together beautifully and while graphics aren't everything, I think it needs to be considered part of an important aspect.

I was basing my typical reply off the fact that many people my age and slightly younger would not buy a game simply because of graphics. That is sad in my opinion. I do want a game to look good but storyline (if required), sound and gameplay are the major factors for me.

I agree completely :)

It's just a PS2 game lol. Advanced shaders arn't available.

An interesting thing about this game is it wouldn't work on older PS2 models because of some software libraries Sony let the company use. Apparently those libraries weren't backwards compatible and the game would crash or something on startup hahahaha.

o.O that's wild. Somebody dropped the ball big time there. I didn't realize (although now it makes sense) that there could be differences in PS2 models like that.

Ya dude. Consoles are so unfortunate. They try to release it quickly enough for it to be playable. But then not even a year later they start upgrading the console, making it smaller, clocking it higher, but it doesn't do shit since all games are going to be working for the first edition. I haven't really heard of a console game that only worked full fps for only a specific model/year of the system because it had more power.

Actually maybe the PSP, but those are firmware upgrades I believe.

I think the box could have been a little bit better but I didn't pay an excessive amount for it. I know the dvd box was probably in the holographic case because there arn't any scratches on the plastic that come with age.

I think to complete my Star Ocean collection I need the second and the fourth game :D
Maybe someone else has a video game collection to share? I'm dominating this section.

i'm the opposite to mans, i always prefer to buy a hard copy of the games even if that limits the number i can steam chat with, but i do have a draw full of PS1 games :D

Same with me. Hard copy = win.
